Hmm... I wonder if the wiggly speedo in my Rover is due to a similar fault to the counterweight problem on your dial? May also explain the 50mph dashboard vibration buzz that seems to be coming from behind the binnacle somewhere.
The little things like door switches and intermittent wipe are the sort of jobs nobody notices but make a vehicle that little bit nicer to live with, well worth doing.

Yeah, once ive put the dash back together, advanced the timing a bit and adjusted the noisy tappet its good to go. Got a fresh test on it now too. I'm 40 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) This month so we'll take it somewhere, no doubt back to wales as usual.
Hope to get away at least once a month or so this year.

Its worth checking the needle, quick internet search suggests its not the only vehicle that counterweights the needle. Intermittent wipe will be great. You have to reach through the wheel to turn on the wipers and its a pain to be doing that repeatedly. as ive used a vw relay I can upgrade to programable delay too. I need a volvo overdrive relay to make that more user friendly and ill get a delay/dimmer for the interior light. Once ive added a clock I guess I could badge it 'ghia' spec

You can't badge it Ghia, it's not a Ford Bedford is related to Vauxhall so a high-spec, non-sporting Vauxhall would be an SL, yes? Not sure Bedford CF SL has the same ring to it as Bedford CF Ghia though.

Brought this up from the depths I see Going to have to sort these brakes before I can badge it up. Currently sat in the van in a field in angelsey. On the way here I slightly over cooked a roundabout entry. Standing on the brake pedal produced little other than savage brake fade! No judder though, I seem to have fixed that. Ill try some new shoes but I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion these drum brakes are just sh1t. Maybe they only felt good on the journey back from buying it as the van wouldnt do more than 50. Now it happily does 70 they no longer fill me with confidence!

I was watching these, even got some shipley quotes. Is OMFG the correct terminology? All untested, needed new pads and caliper rebuild. Needed discs which arent available. Silly money! Ill cobble something together better and cheaper. been driving all over Anglesey this weekend. Van is running spot on. I can mix it with the traffic at 70, I can hustle it round the country lanes and the whole experience is quiet and refined. Cant help but feel something is wrong. All seems toooo smooth. Surely all the bugs arent ironed out yet! (Apart from brake fade from high speed) Also found a vintage show to go look at. Pre booked show field so we were in car park. There were 4 CF's there!!! All contained more filler than metal, all looked like it had been applied like window putty, all had been brush painted, badly. Still, nice to see some!

Thats either a idiot or some body messing around paying that.
And yeah , I'm sure its a darn sight cheaper and easier to rob the GM parts bin and build something cheaper .

I had spoke to the seller before they were listed and he's sound. Sold me some other parts for a good price. I'm sure he is as amazed as me! There rare, very rare, but some discs, calipers and a bit if machining should sort something. I was going to start a thread about planning the conversion but was waiting to see if I bought these instead. I was willing to go £150, maybe £200 (notbthat I could afford the outlay right now!). But thats daft!

they seem to be the same kind of "disk bolts to the back of the hub" setup as range rover classic and by default (as they were robbed off RRC) early coil sprung land rovers. 290 disks and 4 pot girlings... just a thought !

People have been known to use land rover (and therefore sherpa?) Callipers. Transit discs can work too with a little work.
I don't have those hubs though so I need discs that will go on from outside. I have a spare set of drum brakes I can try and convert the hubs from.
I can modify my hubs alot.
What I need is a disc with either 5x120, or space to drill 5x120, with I think about 80mm center bore or space to open out to that. (Might be less, cant remember) They need to fit under 14" wheels. (Mega important this bit)
I can make caliper brackets.
CF2 discs have 23.something master cylinders, I think I could use sd1.
Or, am I right in thinking if I keep the piston surface area the same from the drum cylinders to the disc pistons I can keep my master? I think sd1 servo might go on too, cant remember.
Or
Ill machine the stub axle off the hub and use something like machined down vw t25 hubs and bolt it all together.
or
make some custom spindles.
Not sure yet, ill take some pics and measure my hubs then start a thread so I can pic brains on what parts might work. Ive been searching the brake suppliers online catalogues, but other people always spot more options.

early sprinters are 5x130 with an 84mm bore and go over the studs unlike transit or rrc which bolt on from behind, should be easy enough to drill another set of holes between the existing ones.
and they are less than £30 each!

bmw are 5x120, you may struggle to find discs small enough. I've just sent one of the lads here some e39 ali calipers. disc dimensions are all online, i guess you could always turn some down. the late e39 ones are 28mm x 325 and the early ones 25mm x 295. they are dead cheap though

Rover is the traditional route. This has a super rare optional overdrive so if I can get everything working right ill keep the stock running gear. I only need 65-70mph cruising and maybe 30mpg on a run. You should get 30mpg easy, I remember towing a race car to Shelsley Walsh and not by the quicker/shorter route i use now ( now its 96miles) and i could not get 4 gallons back into the tank. So it was doing over 25mpg with a trailer on the back....they are great vans.

I'm sure its running rich but it shows lean on the test stations emissions tester. Carb is set very rich and if I lean it out it starts missing a little at idle. Carb has been apart many times, nothing wrong with it. No air leaks (been over everything a million times). Ive got it set as well as I can, I think the ICT is just a bit rubbish in this application. I think the van would massively benefit from multiple carbs. Maybe ill put some bike carbs on it some time.

Now this is back to the front page ill update a little. Nothing has changed. I was part way through making a steering wheel boss to put a nice mgb wheel on it but my back went. Ive been laid up with prolapsed disc and am waiting for my operation. Means the van is hard for me to drive so its just sat there while the good weather rolls by . Hopefully my foot nerves will recover enough for me to not have to sell the van. Its currently sat there leaking brake fluid as I need to change a hard line. New line made but not fit enough to change it over.
