Nice with another PV owner! And a really tidy example it is, do not mess with it too much, it is perfect as it is. But is it a 1956 or a 1957? It has the 1957 taillights, but the 1956 grille, and the B14 engine should not be in a 1957, it was changed for the B16 engine that year. What does the VIN plate say? Just curious, not trying to be the wise guy. I don't know if the beautiful yellow/black interior that were fitted to Californias are available as a reproduction. It should be great to fit that one back, speaking of refurbishing the seats.

It's a december 56 car...says the vin nr from my parts dealer overhere. You know PV's I believe it has got the nice yellow/black interiour when it was new...but now it's red vinyl. And the yellow/black is not available as repro. It will stay like it is....it can proudly show it's age. Today i get the carbs back.... Custom made,Hard-chromed throttle shafts! With the engine now running again,i tested first time the vacuum-wiper's.....but it is not working properly. OH,Oh....next job is waiting... Cheers

Tach! I was busy on the Volvo..... Preserve the surface with Owatrol. Retorque the Head bolts because the cylinder head gasket try to leak oil.Adjust the valve clearence ,too. Test drive to MOT on german Autobahn about 300km....i think the first time for the car for decades Anyway...it's a Volvo! No problems.... Have to drive to a MOT-station in another county....in my county it's nearly impossible to register a car from outside germany... ....German laws sometimes sucks a lot. But now i have MOT and with that paper my mate in another county register the car for one day.... With that certificate i can it register in MY county.... >:(You see it's sometimes a long way overhere... Fit yellow bulbs and stoneguards on the headlamps.Sandblastet them for "used" look Next:Fit factory-banded steel wheels.... Cheers

Wheels look right at home, especially covered in dirt. I think the bumpers need to be shortened in the middle, though. Quarter bumpers with overriders.

I love this shape. I nearly bought one off a friend a few years ago, but he decided to keep it. The shape is fantastic, and somewhat similar to my Aerosedan.
Loving the patina as well. Wish the Aerosedan was as nicely patina'd

Hi! Have done nealy 2000 miles now.....but low oilpressure and low compression on cyl no 3 make me think of have a look into the engine. There it is..after 3 hours. Later that day..... Head looks good,no leaky valves Yep,a lot of oil sludge...... The pan, much more oil sludge..... The pistons...2 Broken rings only!Thats the fault on cyl 3 The bores look good, also the bearing shells.Camshaft and followers are like new.So the plan is:New piston rings, new bearings,a new timing gear and new gaskets. The engine had no overhaul in the past and has done 122000 miles. That's swedish quality!! I,m so happy that i have looked into it befor more damage happend. The new timing gear comes with the car already.... Time for cleaning all the oily bits.... Cheers

Really enjoy reading about your projects thanks for the updates. I have a question regarding the timing gears. I guess the new set have been left lying about and have gone rusty. How do you plan on cleaning them up ?

Hope it works OK. Parts made from good quality steel do seem to clean up quite well. I've cleaned up brake discs that were almost new but had gone rusty on the car. They looked terrible but a quick rub with a cup brush and they looked new again.

Soak them in vinegar overnight and the surface rust will rub off in your hands the next morning.

Hi! I will have a try with the vinegar..... Bad news:There are NO pistonrings for this kind of B14a engine anymore.... So i have to fit new pistons and rebore the block . The pistons come from Australia....so i have to wait 2 weeks So i remove all the rest from the block.... Time to look at the Valves.....but here is nothing wrong, only some cleaning needed. Meanwhile i remove the front springs....the car must be a little lower at the front. There is a company who swage them.....i will have a try! And i purchased some center caps....not sure what look better:Hubcaps or the small centercaps....i think the car has to stand on the ground to make a choice... Cheers
