Help This is my 84 accaim, that ive been meaning to put up a build thread about, but never got arround to. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/20160305_111640_zpsbnsz8tv8.jpg) Anyway, ive got to take the trailing arm off to finish up the welding but the bolt is seized in to the bush sleeve normaly id just cut straight through the bush but its a good bush and its made of unobtainium so i cant repace it. Ive been soaking it in penetrating oil for sevral days but i don't think its getting into the sleeve ive had the windy gun on it but it doesn't do owt as the bush takes the impact out and ive tryed wedging the sleeve so it doesn't rotate but thats not worked, a big bar only rotates it and i don't want to tear the bush up. Now I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions would be greatfull attempted. Dan

if you've turned the bolt already its torn the bush off the sleeve so needs replacing anyway.

Nope its a captive nut under the lump in the inner cill, I don't really want to hack in to the inner cills as they are really solid, but i may have to. Cheers Dan

Sorry, only other thing I can suggest is, take the car of the stands and back on the floor, get some large mates to sit in the boot, (to add weight) and try the windy gun again.
If the bush is in tension, it may not absorb the impacts.....?
I think you'll end up going into the cills anyway, that captive will fail......sorry!

Hi, From what the OP says the captive nut is not the problem. The bolt is turning but only a little bit because it is seized in the sleeve in the bush. I think the bolt needs to be cut off either side of the bush/sleeve, the arm can then be removed and the bolt drifted out of the sleeve.

You could try heating the head of the bolt, if not cut it off either side of the bush or drill it out.

If you can get a drill down the middle of the bolt from one end then the heat may spread and loosen it. start with a small bit and go as deep as you can then try to turn it. If that fails go to the next size up in the drill box, rinse and repeat, sooner or later one of two things is going to happen, its going to come out or your going to drill it out. Just make sure the first one goes in straight.

take a very thin saw blade and cut the bolt on top and under the bushing, takes a while. That way the bushing is saved or is the bolt from unobtanium also ?

I think you will have to lose the bushes unfortunately and take to them with an airsaw. I do know SuperFlex sell universal bushes which may be better than nothing in this application ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) .

Try some penetrating fluid first like PlusGas or freeze spray. The bushing probably has a metal sleve inside which the bolt will have rusted too. The 1/16th turn will just be the give in the bushing getting taken up.
Heat might cause the metal sleeve to come away from the bushing which would make it even harder to get out!

Too many projects, not enough time.

I would go with drilling it out if you absolutely have to save the bush - cut or grind the head off to save time and resign yourself to having to open up the sill to replace the captive nut, the bolt should be fairly easy to replace with one of the same or higher spec.

What about a rust dissolver? rather than trying to penitrate the rust disolve it? be a pig to get it stay on there though ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) maybe a rag soaked in it around the bush to let it soak it and start to work? citric acid or vinegar It may be kinder on the rubber than heat?
