Reluctantly selling my W124 diesel estate.Work, home and other commitments mean that I don't have the time to invest in bringing this old car back up to scratch.
Most of these cars are now showing their age bodily with rotten wings, rear arches, rear chassis legs, etc. This is a good, solid example and still looks pretty tidy to be honest.
It's done 230 K and will probably do the same again with a bit of tlc.
Mechanically it's generally ok asides from needing a couple of glow plugs replacing. It always fires up no matter how cold the weather and quickly settles on all 6 cylinders. The plugs died off at the tail end of last year and haven't been disturbed so not snapped off in the head like usually found!
There's a small diesel leak developed at the filter head, requires a new o ring in the shut off valve. All the diesel pipes and pump o rings have been done along with a waterpump.Autobox changes fine and kick down works, small bit of play in the prop but this can be adjusted out by a specialist or dealer with the right tooling.Usual leaks at the diff seals but final drive is quiet.Bit of a pull to the left after clonking one of Renfrewshire's finer potholes at Xmas, would reckon it needs a tie rod replacing.Brakes are strong and parking brake works well.
2 front electric Windows need replacement regulator units, around 30 quid each.
Recent back exhaust system.
Bad bits...
Car has the usual W124 problem of leaking rear cargo window seals along with a perished rear sunroof cassette drain tube.
Needs the windows removing and resealing. The sunroof tube would be replaced while the headliner is dropped to remove the Windows.
The rear carpets are damp because of this so could do with drying out and a good clean to freshen them up.
It's MOT'd till the middle of June and I would happily get in it and drive it anywhere.
Someone with some time could sort the niggles and end up with a decent W124 that will keep going for years.
Car is located in Paisley,10 minutes from Glasgow airport.

SOLD Thanks for all the enquiries.
