	I'd pretty much had enough welding for the time being. So with the underside chassis blacked up to the bulkhead I assemble the rear suspension with the newly powder coated bits, new Spax shocks & springs, new brake shoes, drums, cylinders, cables, pipes & hoses and poly bushes all round A lot more satisfying than welding & massively better than what I'd started with Plus I painted body colour on the inside of the boot The front of the car at this point was still largely untouched apart front removal of the front wings, even the engine and gearbox where still in place.

	Front the A posts back the car was totally rot free. It was at this point the front suspension, engine and gearbox were removed. The worst part of the front end was the front panel & patching that was quite daunting. So I got on with some mechanical stuff while I thought what to do. When I started stripping the car down it became apparent that someone had made a start on fixing it up before. A lot of the rear beam assembly although complete was only finger tight, the drive shafts where fitted but one of them was the wrong way round. The gearstick was sloppy to say the least and when you went for first or third I smashed my knuckles against the dash!!!!! Once the gearbox was out it became clear why, the gearstick has a dogleg in it & the had been fixed back to front with the dogleg pointing to the front. I bought a cheap E46 quick shift kit off eBay thinking this would be easily adaptable to the 02. However the alloy swivel point on the new stick is a lot bigger than the standard 02 fit. So I got a mate to machine a new block for me & welded that to the top of the shift plate. I'll let the pictures do the talking. i.imgur.com/J5Iq1YG.jpg[/s This gave me super tight, super slick, short shift 😎😎 well happy with that Also sent the front subframe, suspension & fuel tank to the powder coaters

	After talking with Gary who's gonna be doing the final prep & paint I took a MASSIVE deep breath & ordered a new front panel from W & N in Germany. Their service is superb. So once delivered I did this. Also to the opportunity to replace the wing mounting rails

	The car came with its original 1600 LC engine & although it ran OK (I'd drive the car on & off the trailer & into where the work was taking place) I'd always planned on fitting a 2 litre motor. Fortunately when I bought the car I negotiated a deal to include two 2 litre M10's. One completely stripped the other complete. The previous owner had bought the car with the spare engines around 12 or so years previously with the intention of going the same route as myself.Knowing how bulletproof these motors are I reckoned if I could get the complete one running on the engine stand I'd clean that up and fit it. So.................... Also refurbed the servos while I was at it

	With all the welding now completed it was time for some paint in the engine bay then I could put the engine & running gear back in. A few before pictures for you first And the a few coats of primer 😎 Then top coat Polaris Sliver Mettalic & laquer 😬😬😬 Some new decals & a roll of fabric loom tape And re-fitted the gearbox, prop, front crossmember & the newly fettled front struts Really coming along nicely now. I love this bit. Then the postman arrived........................💪💪

	Loving the dual Weber sidedraft setup! I Look forward to hearing more on fuel consumption and performance figures? For now on my M10 i'll have to stick to my 36dcd Weber setup but this here is really as good as they come! Good work, it's come a long way in a very short time!
