Hi guys,
I have a R reg Rover 400 (1.6) that starts but then cuts out.
I have just done the head gasket on it but now I am stumped.
The car will start and run for a second, but then it will not settle at idle, it just cuts out. It will then NOT start again unless you remove the key. The battery was flat when I got it so I am not sure if it ran fine before.
So, I am thinking that the fuel pump must be priming, but then not running properly once started. Could this be right? How do I test the fuel pump?
Any other suggestions on what to check would be helpful too.

K series? You can connect two plugs near the throttle body the wrong way round with more or less this symptom, I can't recall what the two plugs are though but worth a look, I think it's possible IACV and TPS but I am clutching at straws on that.

Thanks,
Yes it is K Series.
I will give it a go, but I thought the plugs were colour coded in that area. Might have been two black ones though that I could swap.

Turn the key to position 2 (dash lights on).
Press the accelerator pedal all the way down and release 5 times.
This resets the Throttle Position Sensor. I had to do it on my metro after the battery went flat, it had the opposite symptom though, wouldn't idle below 2K revs.
I don't know if it's a fix, but it's a reset worth trying.
