For sale is my W210 Mercedes AMG E55 Avantgarde.
This is a 1999 pre-facelift model in superb condition. It’s nearly run-in with 136,000 miles, and has MOT till September 2016.
These hand finished W210 E55s really are as good as everyone says they are. The 5.4 litre triple valve twin spark V8 is an absolute belter. More than happy to trundle round at 30mph all day long, but will pull hard all the way to its limited 155mph. A simple remap removes the limiter and they’re reportedly good for 180+. And it’ll outdrag pretty much anything from the lights and overtaking is effortless.
This has no rattles or nasty noises and has always had Mobil 1 in it. Fuel consumption is better than you’d think too! A previous owner removed the secondary cats and fitted a crossover pipe which lets the engine breathe properly and it sounds lovely. The 5 speed auto shifts cleanly and smoothly and it’s recently had the vital transmission service done.
It had brand new genuine AMG front coil springs fitted in September along with rear brake hoses by a Mercedes specialist.
Externally the car is in great shape without the usual W210 rust issues. Even the front wings are the ones it left the factory with. The staggered 18” mono blocks have been refurbed at some point and have matching Kumho Ecstas. It does have a few age related marks and stone chips but it is a genuinely clean, straight car. It also had a new windscreen a few months ago.
The interior is very clean and tidy with AMG specific black leather and wood trim. Everything is electric and it all works properly. Heated electric seats, electric steering column, powerfold mirrors, tilt/slide sunroof, dual zone climate control, DAB/USB/CD head unit, etc, etc.
I bought the car from an AMG enthusiast who have lavished some cash on it including new engine covers, genuine Mercedes floor mats, bonnet badge from the USA and lots else besides. It has a substantial history with it including a sales invoice at 6 months old for £47,000 (first owner was Mercedes Benz) and the original build sheet showing all the options fitted.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed owning this slice of Uber saloon royalty but due to a change in circumstances I need a van so it’s time to give someone else the chance.
