As 'coolest bedford ever?' Is a question, I need to answer. IMO, No, absolutely nowhere near  too early, too low, too slidey door, too stock, too thin wheel and presumably too slow. Cool van though. |

It's definitely a very cool thing. I don't know what's under the bonnet, but I'm guessing it's pretty stock? I reckon something that looks very similar, with a modern turbodiesel and maybe some mods that hint that it's modified, rather than knackered (maybe some Fuchs or Astro Supremes and [more?] lowering) would make a real difference. I'd definitely roll it just as it is though.

I'd love a CA but they're so expensive and rusty. I'd love a CF but the same applies and I'd tolerate a Midi but only if I had to.
I'll stick with a car and a tent.

There aren't any cool Bedfords, I used to fix them for a living in the 80's & they were all without exception sh1t, end of. Especially CF be it petrol or that utterly, utterly hideous Opel diesel, that was from the loins of Satan.
Apart from that, great, not.

What did you dislike so much about CF's? They were curse word, not much else to it really. I worked for the biggest NCB transport depot in the country. We had over 600 vehicles of every shape & size. So amongst that at any one time was probably 50 or more CF's in every guise, vans, mini bus, mines rescue ambulances etc etc. Compare that to the Tranny, of which we had probably 100 or so at a time, they were total pants. Horrid to work on, went curse word, drove curse word & generally not good, the Tranny on the other hand |

Ive owned neither but ive always heard the bedford was faster and better to drive than the transit.
Certainly looks better.

A Catholic family I went to school with back in the '70s had a CF as their daily bus and liked it so much they bought another one.
I had a TK for a few years and liked it. Also like the CA vans. The sliding doors are cool, especially being able to drive around with them open in hot weather. Had a Mk2 Transit at my first job in the early '80s. It was pretty good too.

Too early? Too low? Since when have they been bad things? Too low is very much a current problem. So many nice old cars getting ruined by this daft desire to wreck arches and scrape the floor - yet they just look broken and fragile and slow. Too low, inarguably ugly, but otherwise i think it's great and i'd have it myself! |

Just the fact that it still exists is cool, the fact its ratty and ground scrapingly low is the owners preference, and kudos to him for owning it. What I'm seeing is cool, authough if I had a choice, id take the white one, and the jacked up one just doesnt float my boat.
