The connections from reservoirs are always larger than the outlets so that there is little/no resistance to fluid draw which can cause partial vacuum potentially pull air from any joints. - Usually the connections are in 1/4 the same as clutch feeds because you want low pressure and fluid flow. With clutches it's important as small bore 3/16 hydraulic pipes on clutches cause slower clutch release.

And that will eat at you late at night 😀 :-) Darkspeed makes an interesting point re fluid flow. I have used the same sized tube for brake and cluch lines. I am looking to restrict flow from the clutch (hence the flow restrictor) so the smaller pipe shouldn't be a problem. Pretty straightforward to change if this proves too restrictive. |

Did you weigh the car before you started? The car weighed exactly 700kg back in 1985 when I broke it the Street Racer Championships. I have put in a heavier engine, diff and drive train plus a full roll cage (albeit in T45). I have also added an intercooler, 2 additional fuel pumps, swirl pot plus bigger wheels and tyres. I hope to keep it below 700kg and maybe nearer to 650kg. |

Fluid is sort of needed, even in drag racing :-) As this is obviously of serious interest to some of you and I realise that you have my sanity at heart, I worked out the weight difference betewen the pipes. Wait for it...............................123gms! How will I cope with this extre weight, I hear you ask? Well, It's a bit like therapy, by doing this I have proved to myself that I am not as anal as I thought I was. Sometimes you just have to go with what you consider to be the best solution even if it isn't the lightest :-( Now, where can I reclaim this weight? Somewhere where I wasn't planning to go maybe..............Hmmmmm........:-) |

Great build. Making your own carbon fibre bits is pretty awesome. Thanks. The carbon bits aren't of commercial finish quality, but I am only interested in the weight/strength qualities. No gel coat required as I am painting all carbon so it isn't visible. If you can make stuff with fibreglass you can make stuff with carbon fibre. |

I thought my reliant was going to be fairly light due to its size so didn't worry about weighing stuff as I built it but had a big shock when I finally came to corner weight it . Next incarnation is from the ground up with a much closer eye on what materials I use . When I look at Caterham's for mot compared to my similar chassis on my other car you can see all over where the weight is saved

I have had to be very careful about not get carried away. I know that I have become a little anal about grams but what are kgs made of? |

Not being fitted at the moment but I have it......just in case it is needed :-) The layout of the fuel system allows for the fitting of the nitrous bottle at a later date.  |

Just for safety, 10 minutes isn't enough cure time. You'll only partially cure the prepreg resin in that time. It'll feel cured down at room temperature but might go bendy and (worst case) sticky if it sees any heat around the engine.
