Steering wheel of many, many choices by the look of it!

Is that your actual steering wheel of choice? It certainly is. It evolved over many months and I am quite happy with it. However, if I started again it would no doubt end up different. |

Steering wheel of many, many choices by the look of it! I started off wanting to fit everything on it, but this proved to be too difficult for me so I restricted it to essential drag race buttons plus indictaors. |

Saw this picture earlier titled "New lightweight valves" and it made me chuckle and then think of the élan.  I keep reading through your project sir and I am in absolute awe of your skill and finish. |

Sometimes, things don't go to plan. On the first attempt on making the clutch pipe access cover I forgot to place the peel ply between the carbon and breather fabric, resulting in the resin bleeding into and sticking said fabric to the carbon. On the second attempt the carbon slipped to the side. The third effort worked out OK and just needs, as usual, a little fettling.  |

This is what can happen when you cut titanium on a lathe spinning rather too fast without coolant :-)

When making stuff size doesn't matter, it is still fun and satisfying. Just completed the connectors for the brake/clutch reserviors to the master cylinders. Originally I was planning to use rubber tubing and had fitted it. However, I wasn't 100% happy with it, it looked amateurish. So I decided to go with 8mm copper pipe and just use the rubber pipe to connect this to the master cylinders. But this looked like a bodge so I decided to make metal conectors as, as usual, I couldn't find anything suitable. Made them from aluminium to start with (top row). OK but, again, wasn't totally satisfied with them so started again with brass brake pipe connectors and 1/2" UNF bolts. Quite pleased with the result.  |

Next task is to secure the pedal box to the carbon floor. As this is made of a carbon/foam/carbon sandwich it will crush if subjected to direct bolt loadings. So top hat washers have to be made to the exact thickness of the floor and are glued into the floor. They will be countersunk prior to fitting so that the titanium fixings don't protrude beneath the floor.  |
