Attempting to help a friend of my parents… she is getting on a bit and has taken the brave decision to give up driving and sell her beloved little car.
It’s a 1990 Peugeot 205 Roland Garros, in very nice standard condition, with only 33k miles(!)
I believe she has the full service history, and is the 3rd registered keeper, with the first being the main dealer and the second the old girl’s late husband.
It has been serviced & MOT’ed annually, last in August 2015.
I had in the past mentioned I would be interested in buying, but unfortunately it’s completely the wrong car at the wrong time for me. I feel bad about that, and suspect I will end up selling it for her to make sure nobody tries a take advantage.
So what does anybody think it’s worth as a private sale, but that won’t take too long? (as I think the whole thing will be a bit of a trial for her)
Thanks, Phil

£500-£800. But I think if you had time to wait you could get a lot more.

Good point - tin top, with factory sun roof.

It sounds lovely. Take some nice photos and stick it up for £1350 and watch it fly out the door.

Good wash and polish will help it sell. And make her smile if she sees it looking absolutely tip-top.

With that low mileage and good history id say 1500 as long as good condition, maybe a touch more.
I'd get some photos and just try your luck at a higher price

Thanks for all the input chaps.
For anybody considering messaging offers, the interest is genuinely appreciated but I haven't sorted anything with the lady concerned yet. When I do I will put a proper ad up.
Thanks again, Phil

I'll be interested, so I'll keep an eye out for your for sale ad. I've got two tintop garros's I'm restoring at the moment, as a rough guide I paid £315 for one with no MOT, shot rear beam, but zero rust. And I payed £430 for one with 5 months MOT, bit of rust on the rear quarter, and dented doors. Both of those were nudging 100k miles. The low mileage will obviously play a key part, as will the condition of the interior, but I think some of the above estimates are a bit optimistic, especially without putting an MOT on it first (unless thats your plan?) Hope that helps, and I'll look forward to making you an offer

... I think some of the above estimates are a bit optimistic, ^ Yep There was one advertised on here a while ago for about £300, not sure if it sold or got scrapped retrorides.proboards.com/thread/148145/peugeot-106-roland-garros-northantsWe had a tidy 206 R/G advertised for £500 for a couple of months, got very little interest and ended up gifting it to a friend of the family rather than have it parked up and getting in the way. I like Pugs in general, I liked my 205, I like the R/G trim but all of ours cost £200 or less and were sold for not much more. Hope it sells quickly for a good price but don't be surprised if it takes a while (and be prepared for stupid offers. I had a few folk wanting me to lower our £300 price "Tidy, long mot, 70mpg, ect" before they'd even come out to look at the car!)

Would have though it would be worth about £2.5k to the right person if it's rust free & interior is mint.

£3000 worth all day long.
There's a massive difference in value between a "tidy, usable" car of that age and an immaculate low-miler with all the history and documentation in today's modern classic market.
