Hi folks, picked up a cheap 4x4 at weekend. It's 2.4 petrol sante fe. Looks a bit like a Gnu (African cow). ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) It drives ok but needs a rocker gasket as oil is seeping out. The main concern is it sounds a bit like a diesel. Not got a knock but defo not whisper quiet. Any ideas and if it is tappers how can I fix them? Also! had it up on the ramps and there is a little square plate missing between the gearbox and the engine so you can see the flywheel. Anyone know what that plate is called so I can search for one. Many thanks. Jed

If they are hydraulic it may have the wrong oil viscosity in currently which could cause it. I'd normally go for a flush and refill with correct oil for starters but i remember reading somewhere that these motors don't like flushing products. You could try just draining and refilling with some cheap oil and run it for a few days then drain and refill with the good stuff.

Thanks for that. It has loads of receipts but none for a recent service and the oil is very black. That will be my first job? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)
