Anybody got one of these newer generation inverter mig welders ?Ticks a lot of boxes for me for home use. Anybody who actually has one, I would like to hear from you !
Yes, I do know there were thousands of pages on the net about how carp the wire feed was on the little Micky mouse sip welders, so bare in mind those machines first came out 20 years ago and these new inverter welders are only a couple of years old, I am sure a lot has changed.
They come standard with a two year warranty, so pretty confident they should be ok.
I don't want this thread degenerating into a "Let's all climb on the bandwagon and pull SIP's name through the mud", type of thread. I don't want to know how good or bad their older machines are or were. Only want information on this particular product. It's a genuine request for information, so let's keep it as such ! Thanks in advance, Johnny

Can you ask your local retailers to get the SIP rep to bring one with them to use as a demo while you are there?

A lot HAS changed over the years with sip welders, but being in the trade, i wouldnt own one if you paid me
Thermal arc have an amazing lineup, worth having a look at their stuff if you can
(Edit)
Not pulling their name through the mud by any means,
I personally think their equipment isnt up to scratch for the type of stuff i do
What will be the max range of material you will be welding?

I thought that the r-tech brand was the one to go for nowadays . I hear you have great back up from the company and its a bloody good package for the money .
In your posistion i would do as above and try to get some demos from manufacturers

It's for home use. Single phase supply. 2mm max thickness. Very light duty. Any thing bigger or heavier I would hit with the big Kemppi at work, 500A, water cooled torch, pulsed mig,all the bells and whistles. Not overly impressed with Rtech, we blew up a couple of there machines at work. Went back to the small Esabs, problem solved. For stitching my Mazda back together, that sip p194 looks ideal, 14kgs all up and small enough to live in the bottom of my cupboard in the house. Could make a trolley the same size as a conventional mig machine, with one bottle of argon and one Argoshield lite. Trolley could hold mig, tig and plasma cutter when needed, but all machines light and small enough to live in the house when not in use. That's my thinking .....

I don't touch sip but for what you want, one of their small inverters sounds like it could be useful
