Ok so I sold the sd1 rover and brought a mk2 Granada which I absolutely love it needs a little tlc but it's on the road so will be doing a little at a time, it's very original so I think I'm going to keep it that way, so far I've rebuilt the brakes and the carb which I'm not sure was a good idea as its not run right since its a little hesitant and goes though fuel like you wouldn't believe, when I first rebuilt it it was fine I set the mixture up with an exhaust anilizer so I no that's right i thought it was the choke so fixed it permanently open which made it better but still not perfect, it's had new leads plugs rota arm and dizzy cap so I know that's all ok, so I'm thinking it must be over fueling, I've got a few ideas the car has what looks like a fuel presure regulator so I'll be checking the fuel presure and maybe the return pipe for a blockage, and make sure the earth cables have a good ground other then that I'm stumped any idea will be more then welcome, here's some photos of the old girl,

Looks like a good project, I would say your fuel consumption problem is down to the chock being fixed open

The choke didn't seam to open enough so fixed it open to see if that made it drive better, when I stripped the carb two metal discs fell off the back of the electronic choke so I glued them back on so that could be the problem I've been trying to locate a replacement but there like hens teeth

Auto choke sounds suspect to me. Try find another carb for it I reckon, might be surprised what you can find cheap second hand. Facebook groups are good places to find bits especially for old Fords. Big soft spot for the Granada

The sd1 was a series one v8 and brown, I don't use Facebook so can't look there, I think it's the auto choke to, I've been looking on eBay but they just don't come up for sale

Very nice, also good to see a lower spec car instead of another Ghia Is the clock in the centre console? As in mine, the clock is up top and the radio above the ashtray!

A lovely old thing!
My dad had a 2.8 Ghia in the same crystal green, but with brown velour back in 81/82. His would have been the same age as this one. I have fond memories of it. he replaced it with an E28 BMW 5 series. That was faster, but performance apart, I preferred the Granada.

Yes the clocks in the centre console, it's never been welded there's no major rust really, there's a little on the front part of the chassis rail but not gone in a hole yet so I'll get that cleaned up, both rear arches have a bit of rust one side should clean up ok the other will need welding but I might just sort the rust out and fill it as a temporary measure till I have time and money to sort it properly, drivers wing needs a little tlc I would replace but there not cheep £400 seams to be the going rate, few spots of surface rust here and there but nothing major, it's very original so I think I'll keep it that way, I did plan to put a 24v cosworth engine and manual box in it but I just don't have the heart to do it, most of the bushes will need replacing so I'll use Polly bushes I think black ones hopefully if there available, now that carbs sorted it starts first turn of the key and drives how I would like, it puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel, I've got some photos of some of the other old fords I've owned later

Got some Bosch ht leads to replace the curse word cheep leads and she's now runs lovely and super smooth so don't buy cheep ht leads, I replaced the rocker cover gaskets and in side the rocker covers was caked in old oil so I stared cleaning it of and thought it was a curse word job so burned it off with a blow touch much easier did stink tho lol so lovely and smooth and no tapping yippee, I also fitted a Usb socket to the dash, I got a 12v to 5v converter which is ment to be 3amp I think so should charge much faster then the adaptor I had and doesn't interfere with the radio which is good,
