Hi could anyone whos knows have a quick look at the pics and let me know if a Clarke 3hp compressor can be safely wired into this unit or if id need a larger unit with seperate spare fuse. The house is rented so the cost would lie with me as I cant see the landlord forking out just so I can have a compressor.

Is that fuse box for the entire house or just the garage? 3hp ideally needs to be run via a motor starter unit rather than a 3 pin plug

that's the whole houses wiring. at my old address I had a gas cooker so I used the spare electrical oven circuit and ran the cable out to the shed which was fine. But this place has and electric hob and oven so there is no spare fuse. I'm thinking if its connected to the oven circuit I could never use both at same time ( tea in oven whilst busy in garage etc) but should be fine used separately. Any ideas?

Run an additional separate fuse point/box from the supply and wire the comp to that

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

Adding an additional fuse box is really notifyable work and should be signed off by a qualified Sparkie, don't forget to pull out the main 100a fuse from the incoming supply before doing anything with the tails from the meter. As it's a rental you will need your landlords permission too and I'm guessing they will insist on any work being signed off.

Could be wrong, but I believed 3hp was the largest you could run from an ordinary 13amp supply, so all you need to do is plug into an existing socket, but if you use an extension lead, make sure It's fully unwound Ttfn Glenn

You're right it is but most of the motor manufacturers say run via a starter - it basically avoids blowing the fuse on start up.

The 3hp comp need a 16a supply to do it right. That's why they don't supply them ready plugged
Mine has a dedicated supply from the board in the garage and the garage has its own 40a fuse off the house board .... It still dims the house lights a little on start up

Yeah i tried a 13amp plug when i first bought it as id read you could get away with it but it blew almost every time. Il ask the landlord if i can have an extra one put in. Does anyone have a rough idea what a qualified person would charge?
Or could anyone on here do it if your registered? I'm in the wigan area. Thanks Lee

Ask landlord first, but they usually have a 'prefered list' supplier of electricians, plumbers anyway ......

3 hp is only 2.3 kw or just under 10A so the only issue is the starting, A soft start or even a long uncoiled extension lead would work out cheaper than having a new power supply plus you can always take it with you.
