Need a bit of advice. Late last year I finished restoring my shell, sprayed it with red oxide as I went along. Seam sealed the underneath and then gave it a decent coat of stonechip (nothing too mad as it's not a road car, track only).
Seam sealed the rest of the car - interior and engine bay. I then sprayed grey primer on the engine bay and boot, and a few other bits.
What with the moist weather we've had and an accident I've not been able to continue working on it for a few months, and now the grey primed areas have started to exhibit extremely small spots of rust. I am a bit mortified, as I thought the red oxide was non porous (although I know the grey primer is, so I assume moisture has got in and then under the red oxide?).
I realize I'm going to have to strip these areas back to bare metal and respray.
Was looking for a bit of advice on the best way of doing this. I'm doing it myself and don't have a compressor anymore. I'm not looking for a show car finish just something that will do - functional. My original plan was red oxide > grey primer > matt black > laquer, all using rattle cans.
Any of you retro riders provide me with some superior knowledge?! Already not looking forward to stripping it down again ... the red oxide only areas all seem fine though?
