Wow since when did backspace mean the back button! So long writing this.... so many words..... gone.
So for the second time........
Seriously Screw you keyboard shortcuts.. 3rd Time...
Now as per the title, this is a thread / ongoing character building experience of my 1991 BMW Alpineweiss II E30 Touring named "Tramp".
I'm New here so go easy
I am part of another forum called e30zone.net, i have been for a few years now..... quietly observing.... but as of yet i haven't made a build thread on there, so consider yourselves lucky!
Ermmmm.........
From the beginning i suppose.. right?
March 2013
I was looking through fleabay for an old Range Rover p38 ( yeah i know, we wont talk about that) and i stumbled across many RWD cars, nissan's, lexus's, BMW's, Merc's and naturally much like everyone who car searches on ebay i was sidetracked by my new want of a RWD car, and up popped and i quote the ad ( Old Bmw 1.8l Estate Noisy Diff No Tax New MOT), so i bid, without looking at the location of course, duh why would i, Errmmm WEST YORKSHIRE..... I live on the nice and sunny South Coast of East Sussex, ROAD TRIP !!!!!! Wooooo...ahhhh Fudge L plates.... 9 and a half hours zig zagging down the A roads of england to get the bar steward home.
But i did it, at 21 i bought my first entry into the (modern) retro world!
Late March 2013
Now ignore the Roof rack and lowered suspension this is how i bought the old girl, A mere 2 weeks after how i bought her to be precise.
I drove this everywhere, i loved it. However what i didn't love was the Infamous BMW 1.8L 4 pot M40B18 engine, This thing tapped like an Irish dancer on speed, it had to go, i needed more POWER!!!!!
Barely 8 months into owning Tramp and she was in a cramped garage being dismantled , For The Greater Good!
Now i unfortunately i didn't take many pictures, either because i was forever buried underneath it swearing or because i was trying to find a lighter and some petrol
But i'l post the pictures i took and then list of the things i replaced.

August 2014 FINALLY !!!!!!! Shes Done!
Early August out the garage to bleed the coolant!
The day she came home After a long and painful rebuild !
All throughout a good friend was helping and teaching me about BMW's in the process so i have to show you his...
From here i had an awesome couple of weeks, it was like a brand new car !
More speed, better handling, comfortable, Looked awesome as hell!
Week 5 of driving...
September 2014...
Nice night, went for a drive, found some dark country lanes, had some fun hoooning around, got lost down some lanes, finally found the correct lane back towards a town near home, driving around 50mph cruising and enjoying having my car back.......
BAANNGG!!! BAANNG!!!
The one fecking lane i decide to go down, in the pitch black, has a pothole the size of a small town in the middle of the road!!! FFS
After nursing the car back to the garage i assessed the damage the next day....
The crater i went down took out
The O/S engine mount
Both front shocks
O/S Rear Shock
Buckled Both O/S banded stealies
Snapping the engine mount sent the engine forwards and down which in turn took out
Oil sump
Viscous fan
Radiator
Gearbox mounts
Oil Cooler pipes
Prop-shaft Bearing
Prop-shaft Guibo
And i think although i didnt replace my steering rack and my O/S wishbone.
Least to say i was slightly annoyed. It then stayed of the road until one frantic weekend of rebuilding happened out of nowhere in November !
Again having alot of new stuff i got it all rebuilt in 2 long days and nights.
The morning after rebuilding (Sunday) into the early hours, i drove it very cautiously down to Portsmouth to meet some awesome new friends from the e30zone, 2 of which are now basically family, mainly because she has a nicer e30 then me.
I Mean look at it....
BTW this is "Lady Brigete"
(Lady & the Tramp) Its where the name came Tramp came from for mine. That and because compared to hers mines rather Trampish hah.
And that is the story up untill December 2014....
New Rebuilt (twice) car, new friends from just owning the same car, and my frantic, awesome introduction into the retro car owning world......
I did more things in 2015 before it came of the road again, but i'l make a part 2 in a short while...
Thanks for reading (those who haven't just skipped to the pictures Haha) Tramp Part 1
