Model: E39 BMW 523i
Year: 2000 (Date of first reg 25/04/2000)
Mileage: 192 000 (192k)
Registration is: W623SLC (now added pics which show reg number as per forum rules)
MOT: May 2016
Location: Leeds (LS20)
3 former keepers. (I'm the 3rd)
Price: £1250 ono
Contact details: PM here please.
There is an A4 file of history that accompanies the car.
I personally have spent more money (close to £3k now - how dumb am I lol) than I ever should have on this car, but I found myself caught up in a loop.
Work done over the past year:
Radiator top hose and service.
All brake pipes renewed.
Replacement propshaft from a lower mileage car (125k miles)
Brand new cam cover (original was brittle and crumbled) - cost £250
New ABS module £350
Oil pump / filter housing gasket replaced.
New rear discs and pads.
New rear calliper.
New rear springs.
New shocks all round.
Front ARB bushes replaced.
NSR bush and arm.
2x new rear tyres (Goodyear F1 Asymmetric) - front tyres are in good condition.
Windscreen wiper relay.
Washer hoses replaced at top of bonnet.
Air conditioning works.
Cruise control works.
Radio works. (CD player never tried but should work).
All electric windows work.
Electric boot release works.
Auto box changes smoothly, although does emit a slight clunk sometimes when changing down at low speed (rare).
The manual change function works perfectly.
There are two additional "style 49" alloys to go with the car, as well as a single original alloy.
Bad points: (easy to see in pics - some rust)
Some rust at the front edge of each sill.
Rust on right hand side arch above bumper.
There is a scuff on the rear wing.
There is a stone chip / ding above the rear bumper which has rusted.
There is a dent in the rear end of the roof - I've been told it can be repaired with the screen in place.
Driver's side headlamp leaks - I have a replacement rebuilt with new adjusters - it just needs fitting.
The wings and bonnet have previously been painted (properly), however there are some minor stone chips on the bonnet.
The boot lid appears to be rust free.
There are possibly (probably??) other blemishes on the body work that I have forgotten about or not even seen.
So why am I selling?
Well, pending redundancy means I need to reduce the amount of cars I have (4) and the BMW was pulled out of the hat to be the first to go.
I am open to serious offers - but please don't pitch up on my doorstep, test drive the car and then submit a lowball offer.
I have tried to show every single issue here in gory detail. It is what it is - a 15 year old BMW, warts and all.
It has always been my intention to get the rust sorted, but reduced hours at work over the past 5 months have meant that spare money has been seriously lacking, although I have still kept up with maintenance when required.
