So the time has come to give someone else the opportunity to own this classic old Merc estate. I'm sure you've all heard the "last of the true Mercedes" cliché - it's what made me buy one - but now I understand where that comes from! I've really enjoyed the car - it was the perfect car to take the family to the south of France and back this summer, was ideal to take on a Belgian beer trip and was my daily driver until recently. This is a fantastic car that has been well looked after, and it's only due to wanting something a bit sportier and less practical I'm moving it on. It's the 2.8 straight-6, automatic 7-seat model, with Sportline chassis and full black leather interior, which is in stunning condition. Mechanically all is in order, and it has 4 new Avon tyres, new brake discs and pads, new radiator, a 12 month MOT and service history back to 1998. There are a number of "known" mechanical/electrical issues with the W124 model, all of which have been dealt with on this example by Mercedes specialists withinin the last 5 years: It has had the exhaust air pump removed, engine wiring loom, head gasket, ignition barrel replaced and the rear hydraulic self-levelling suspension replaced with air shocks (see here for more details on this.)
I have priced the car taking into consideration the cosmetic issues on the exterior - it has some corrosion on both front wings, on the tailgate and under the rear right windowsill, and has a dent on the right rear wing which was caused by the prior owner. The ventilation fan is a bit squeaky, it needs a new radio aerial, and there is a small (non-MOT-affecting) stone chip in the windscreen.
