Weird one this basically on a rebuilt 1.3 cvh the near new weber ibf carb when idling seems to be dripping/leaking fuel onto the venturi. Have been told it would be a float needle issue or float out of set up. Tried finding a diagram for an ibf but google didnt supply. Or would this be another issue? It doesnt seem to run rough at all runs fine but just an odd thing for it to do when i looked down the carb.. Thanks in advance

bump! in a real pickle here- also there is no vacuum from the vacuum lines underneath the manifold!? help checked the float level and needle seems to be nothing wrong here. idle cut off valve works etc..

Sounds as if a check valve is either sticking or missing, so the Venturi action is drawing fuel out of the accelerator pump squirter.

Sounds as if a check valve is either sticking or missing, so the Venturi action is drawing fuel out of the accelerator pump squirter. Check valve ? Thats new to me what would that be , sorry to ask , thanks

Just changed the carb as well for a well known weber ibf still hasnt really cured it all. Even when i pull the vacuum hoses off it does curse word all. It has that stupid finned ecu xr2 ignition box and a retrofitted later cvh dizzy!

Hi Slammage - Love to help you out on this one - (I ran a carburettor restoration business for many years so hope I can help anyone out with carb probs !)
With yours there are a few things to check.
1 - Check the float in the carb is OK and isn't holed or porous, as fuel will seep into the venturi 2 - I suspect the idle circuit is blocked or running too lean, so you've had to wind up the throttle screw a bit to get it to tick over. When you do this, the carb starts pulling fuel through the main circuit instead. - take out the idle jet and make sure it's spotlessly clean, then make sure the idle mixture screw is turned out about 4-5 turns- turn the main tickover(throttle) screw off a bit - see how it goes then. 3 - Oh and if the carb has an idle solenoid on the side (the little gadget with the elec connection) - make sure this is clicking on when you turn on the ignition !
