not sure what happened to my advert, it vanished and didn't go into the purgatory, and nobody has messaged me, so not knowing what else to do , i'm trying again. It was deleted. You didn't include any pictures and therefore there was no proof of the age. In fact, there's no numberplates visible in the pictures so I'll be deleting this one soon too! Sorry to be such a stickler for the rules, but things really do get out of hand when exceptions are made. You could of course, put up some pictures of the car that include the registration. :-)

You should really have pictures of the plates when the cars are borderline, but it makes sense I suppose. Out of interest, what was the private plate?

I don't know but it has been hit pretty hard, airbags have deployed hence I figured not worth repairing. May actually pull the engine out as i was thinking of trying one in a Datsun truck but I have so many different engines on my project pile, 300zx, 300zx turbo, Silvia, and even a Nissan V8 engine.. so I thought I'd see if anyone else wanted it.

I would say the damage on that is fairly light, if their anything like vw's or audi's the airbags go off from pretty much nothing, I've seen a golf with blown airbags yet all the repair required was to swap out a bonnet, even the catch lined up It looks a reasonably easy repair for someone and I'm pretty sure that was a common colour so most of it would be bolt on. Fair play for being honest about it though, I bought a golf from the internet once before with limited pictures (yes I was foolish) as I had identical coloured parts yet it arrived and looked like it had been dropped from an aeroplane, airbags had gone off, screen gone the lot, I got had and it wasn't a nice feeling. As it was a private sale I had no comeback at all, gutted.

I really woudl think this is a spares one, (or you'd need a whole car to swap bits from ) it has crumpled the front ends of the chassis rails abit for example. but most of the damage is high up on the bonnet /slam panel.
Front wings appear to have survived.
Might make an ok track car.
But mainly i would expect it to be a running gear donor.

It doesn't look too bad,as said above most will be bolt on repairs.
Main thing with the MK2's is to give the front chassis rails a good inspection, they can rot out badly as they made them double skinned unlike the MK1.Any visible bubbling on the outer face and they are well on the way. Need the undertray off to look properly but you can see if there is any signs of rot looking into the arch with the wheels on full lock.
If the rails are ok and the rear end of the sills aren't desperate it's worth doing.
You can get chassis rail repair sections for them now but it's a fairly big job.

They are blistering up, i'd say they were close to rotting through.

They are blistering up, i'd say they were close to rotting through. Yeah, its common on them,VOSA even sent a memo to MOT stations about it as it's largely hidden by the tray. Bit ironic really, they made em double skinned for crash test reasons and they end up being a whole lot weaker than the single skin MK1 which doesn't have the rot problem. Parts car really like you said, would need some fairly major work to make a solid track car when the rails are shot.
