Apologies for the randomness of the advert but up for sale here is either a nice numberplate if you have a clk as it comes with a free car, or a car with a free plate worth the asking price
The car is a 1998 CLK 230 sport auto Kompressor convertible. It has covered approx 116 and has a valid mot until Nov 2016. There is a partial service with the car also.
The exterior of the car is very good due to the fact the previous owner went to the trouble of replacing the front wings and giving the car a blowover. As a result, it doesn't have the usual rotten wings, arches or boot lid that most suffer with.
The wheels were also painted at the same time although they do have a few kurb marks but still presentable. All tyres are above 4mm if memory serves me.
The interior is in very good condition, full black leather seats complimenting the exterior colour very well. There are some scuffs here and there but overall, very nice. It also has the carbon style trim due to being the sport model. Has all the common mercedes features, electric windows x 4, power fold mirrors etc. The drivers mirror glass has gone a strange colour so wants changing.
Mechanically is where this car could use some help. I believe the previous owner had some issues with the timing chain and from what I was told, it was repaired rather than replaced?? Anyway, there is some noise from this area and it is more prominent once the engine has warmed up. It starts, runs and does drive and the noise is only really apparent at idle.
The roof also needs some attention as currently it does not work. I have checked the obvious culprits. The rear headrests operate on the same hydraulic circuit and they operate fine, the relay is ok and when you open the handle, all windows drop as they should. I will try to resequence it as the battery was removed but whether or not this will have any effect is unknown. Please assume the roof does not work.
The number plate on the car is S80 CLK. I checked on one of the massively ambitious valuation sites and they valued it at £2500. I also checked the DVLA site and of the very small amount of plates for sale, The prefix types at the same end of the alphabet were up for £999 hence the price of the car, or the plate dependant on how you want to justify this.
I will post some more pictures once I have given the car a proper clean as it has been sitting for approx 6 months, only moved for the mot.
The car is in Thame, Oxfordshire
