	So me and my mate fitted some alloys to his Berlingo van today. Mostly went to plan aside from a stripped bolt on the front and a little bit of concern over how much of the hub is in the centre bore of the wheel. Basically how much is.. safe? On the back the wheels are probably about 5/6mm onto the hub but they have a cross machined into the reverse of the wheel so they don't contact all the way round? And on the front it's probably more like 3/4mm. My concern is that the bolts will be taking all the weight rather than sitting on the little shoulder of the hub.. but I'm not sure? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Rob.

	The center bore bears no weight whatsoever once the wheel bolts are tightened, it's only there to locate the wheel centrally as you tighten the bolts up. Many aftermarket wheels use plastic spigot rings to shim the center bore down. Four bolts, done up tight provide well over 10,000kg of clamping force. This creates a huge amount friction between the wheel and hub face and it's this friction which bears the axial load, or the weight of the vehicle. Steel to Aluminium joints have a coefficient of friction of probably about 0.8, meaning each wheel can support 8000kg before wanting to slide against the hub face. So basically, don't worry about it, just make sure you've got the correct wheel bolts and they are threaded into good threads, as you normally would. Peugeot/Citroen alloy wheels take strange bolts, the ones from the OE steel wheels are not suitable.
