Selling our 1976 BMW E12 520i as my brother who is the part owner is moving abroad.
Bodywork
BMW Colorado metallic in colour, full respray 2 years ago, doors off and windows out.
All chrome bright work present however, has some milking in places i.e. top of windscreen. Rear bumper has surface rust to lower part of bumper (underneath rub strip).
Due to standing for over 2 years would benefit from a full paint correction to get the full out of the new paint.
Some slight bubbling bottom of drivers door but very slight, various small to medium scratches to bonnet and rear drivers arch.
Inside arches like new no rust and still body coloured (no other rust protection present)
Engine
Engine stands at 31,115 genuine mileage.
2.0 injected Kugelfisher fuel injected (used in the 2002Tii)
New air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, oil, spark plugs, HT leads and distributor cap in the last 12 months (car hasn’t driven in the past 12 months).
Fuel tank has recently been cleaned and resealed as well as a coating of hammerite black. As well as a new fuel pick up sender.
Various rubber piping has been changed due to cracking and general age.
Engine runs fine but would benefit from a tune due to not being properly run since 1989.
Brand new rear back box fitted in the last year.
Wheels
Brand new tyres all around last year.
Wheels were fully shot blasted and refurbed two years ago but are starting to show signs of surface rust in places.
Chrome beauty rings and chrome wheels centres all immaculate and present.
Interior
Both front seats and rear bench in very good condition. Drivers seat has no signs of wear to bolster.
Front seats have period woollen seat covers but seats underneath are immaculate (but in need of good clean).
All door cards are immaculate with no damage.
Dashboard is as the day it left the factory, no cracks, scratches or damage at all. Slight crazing to gear knob but this is just due to age.
Factory fitted tape player (still has the Now That’s What I Call Music 6 tape in!)
Factory fitted electric aerial fitted and toggle switch on dash.
Even peddle rubbers are like new!
Additions
The car was found in 2012 and had been dry stored since 1989 due to the original owner closing the garage doors and leaving the car where it was. The car still has the original driving gloves given to the new owner present in the glove compartment. The last tax disc to ever be used is still present on the windscreen and this dates 31/07/89. The car was restored by the previous owner but did no miles while in the process. We p/x’ed the car against another classic two year ago and the car has sat since then. The car has not been driven properly since 1989, we are the third owner but neither me nor previous owner has driven the car any distance. In the boot every replaced part I.e. break pads, distributor, fuel filter etc. are still present and none have been thrown away so the buyer will inherit all these parts including half a tin of body colour paint from the respray. The car is a genuine barn find and has been fully restored but just needs a bit of tweaking to become perfect. Recently we did a full break flued change with pads and disks as the originals were too far gone. The car is by no means immaculate but very good for year and has been very well looked after by the previous owner and us.
The only reason we are selling the car is due to my brother emigrating otherwise we would keep it locked up in a garage as your very unlikely to find one this early in this condition with such low miles.
A viewing is a must to appreciate how clean the car is. We are open to offers but we cannot p/x or swap due to the circumstances.
Any more information or pictures please do not hesitate to ask I am more than happy to oblige.
