Soooo... Since there's no chance of getting my Cortina on the road this year and I'm getting the itch to be driving a classic I went and bought this: edit: didn't realise it's been ages since I've been on here so I've not even posted about my Mk3 cortina... I'll make a thread for that too eventually. It looks pretty rough, but is actually very solid It's very solid underneath, I couldn't find any visible rot but I know it failed an mot on what's probably the rear spring cup. There's bound to be some welding, but the main jobs will be getting it running nicely and rebuilding the brakes. It'll tidy up quite well I think. Hoping to be using it by this summer

Nice project, well done. Looks like there's a lot of fun ahead on this one but it will be worth it.

Why tidy it up? Its beautiful! Just remove the boot lid and turn it in to a mobile planter imo.

By tidy it up I really just mean get rid of the slime on the roof and bonnet, which is pretty gross! It does have some interesting "character" patches of different colours And some pretty cool rust staining down this rear quarter

Oh yes! Jamaica yellow (and all of the variations this car has of it) is here to stay It's good it being a solid colour too as I can pretty much rattle can most of it and still get quite a good finish.

true definition of don't judge a book by it cover. Not going to lie, when i saw the first pic i just assumed it was a rot box. but from the other pics it does seem to be in okay (if dirty) condition. good find

Yeah, I echo what Ebejeebies said, when I first saw it my initial thoughts where, good grief, how bad is the Cortina if this thing is in better shape. But looking at the other pictures it looks pretty solid. I wouldn't mind seeing a few pictures of how it looks clean though. The seats look past their best, what are your plans for the interior? Also, I wouldn't mind a look at your mk3 Cortina.

The Cortina currently looks like this: I had to get the inner sills from Turkey, and I've still got the rest of the floor edge to replace, then as you can see the area where the wheeltub meets the floor. But I have no covered space to work so progress is very very slow I'll make a thread for this one when the weather gets nicer and work starts happening again. I've been fighting desperately to get this in under cover at the transport museum I volunteer at, but as of yet they don't want to know. But I know there should be a space opening up pretty soon so It's going in! Now I'm not the best welder, I started self learning a year ago this month, so some bits of this I'm going to revisit: One day <3

Blimey!! It's not often that a car looks better/more solid underneath than on top. Nice find.

Strewth, that looks like a lot of work! Are you doing it all yourself? I've fancied a mk3 Cortina for a long time, or better still, a Ford Taunus fastback. But to date they have eluded me. I saw this one the other day while I was out and about it looked pretty damn cool, and immediately sparked off an eBay search when I got home lol. Who's is the blue one in the photos, that looks pretty special!
