Hey peeps, have been scouring the net for a Kei car type car on the net ever since getting an awesome ride in a mate's cappucino at the weekend.
Can't fit in a cappucino hence that's out of the question. Had a scour round for the same kind of car and instead came up with a fwd shopping hatch - oh well. Tis a suzuki swift gti, mk2 - 1989. Anyone have any knowledge of it, what's it like, how much they're roughly worth in average condition.
Just can't find any info on the on t'internet, can't even find any cool pics without generic kingdom bumpered, big wheeled rubbish.
Are they 1.3 16v's or what? Would love a little screamer of an engine.
Thanks for any gen peeps.
Ooooh before i forget am I right in thinking they're the usual 4 x 114.3?

hate hate hate.
i know of a few, i know (knew) a couple of people with one.
check brake lines, rust round tailgate, arches, engine needs to rev freely and check nothings seized as they're often used sparingly by old people. when, if, you crash, they are very expensive to get right insurance is very high for what they are MPG isnt what you'd call amazing.
in short, id shoot my hand and then, only then, would i consider one. obviously an auto as id have just one hand.

I fit in a Cappuccino and I'm 6'1" ;D To be honest, there's more room in a Suzuki Whizzkid, but more rust too ![:-[](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png) Maybe do an ebay search for car magazines with a Swift road test? I had one as a courtesy car once when the Cappccino was being serviced and I almost rolled it into a ditch on the first fast corner....

The cappucino is comfy for me leg wise but my shoulders won't let the door shut without someone slamming it and my knee gets wedged between the steering wheel and fugging central console.

They're ace cars they're stupidly fast for a 1.3 - can get them well under 7 seconds to 60 for not much cash.

Did you try adjusting the steering column on the Cappuccino?
I remember it was a tight fit, in fact the MG Midget I had a bit later seemed very roomy by comparison ;D

Now that's what I'm talkin bout. Need to go see this one as the cam belt allegedly snapped at idle, being 16v is should have caused a fair bit of damage, but local factors can get pistons and valves so think it'll be worth a punt if I can get it cheap enough.

I like them, even the later (presumably heavier) 1.0 3cyl ones are nippy, and of course sound like a high pitched Audi Quattro! 1.3s are a lot of fun.

Rebuild on Snapped belt wont be cheap though - be warned ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) This is the thing that is giving me a headache. It was apparently at idle when it went snap, so on that basis should be salvageable. But if the seller is telling porky pies it'll be a PITA. Wish I could turn up, have a look around and whip the head off whilst I'm at it. Wonder what they'd think of that? ;D

They either go on startup when they strip the teeth or they go under load.... If you really want one I would buy the best you can afford ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
