I think it's the kind of car that would suit a track look. Lower, wider wheels, tyre lettering, bolt on arches (you know the ones that were for sale on here a while back, black plastic or fiber glass?), visible oil cooler - not hanging put of the front of the car though, haha.

I am picking up a 1969 Austin Healey Sprite with a fibreglass Frogeye front end this week. Needs a little bit of tidying but I will keep an eye on this thread

I'm not a minilite fan, but sometimes people do interesting things with them. Midgets look great without bumpers too and I really can't fault the spotlight location on this one. In fact, it might just be perfect, which is probably the only time I've ever said that of a car on minilites. There's some mad hardtops out there if you can find (and then afford) one. I really rate the steels and chrome hubcaps look, the Midget can pull that off extremely well. Imagine yours in green with matching contrast colour roof and steels.

RWA! Much as i like the blue one, that's money. Wires would be chrome for me, but you know, it's not my car.. The Rostyles do look great in either all-silver or their original silver/black two-tone job. Here's black.. But you'll be surprised what a general tidy-up will do with what you have.. And a few styles i like.. I'm liking the black salt Lake look.

These are ripe for a bit of cafe racer style, as already noted. Cut down screen speedster would also be very cool. Rotary conversion?

The thing that's always bugged me about midgets is that flat slab-sided sill panel under the doors. If it were me and I had some decent fabrication chops I'd remove those and replace with something that rolls inward to the underside of car as it does on an MGB - would make it look like a proper 'small' MGB and more sporty. I'd also smooth it - bumper delete and smooth the panels out - remove the chrome strip (makes it look very old-fashioned) and of course lower it. Fatter wings front and rear for wider track would be good but I prefer the more subtle way of chopping the wing along it's length , bulging and filling the hole than boxing or tack on extensions. I'd also mirror the full-radius arch of the front on the rear to replace the half-covered ones it has stock. Then speedster the roof - either low or single screen, with aero deck over passenger seat or some sort of lower fastback hardtop that also replaces the bootlid. Paint and stance - some sort of bonneville/cafe racer hybrid - nice blue-grey paint, proper sign-writing, wider cream or black steels maybe an inch or two oversize, Dunlop paint on tyres. I wonder if there's much can be done with the headlights?- Like some way of altering the wings to fit more laid-back style aero lights - like off an old 911? Smoothed for speed could look really good. This sort of says it but it's a whole custom 'Ashley' front end: This is nice Smooth Tough LOL

The Midget is probably a bit too stumpy to pull this off, but I really want to see someone turn a Spit into reality.

Cheers for the ideas chaps. I'm thinking along the lines of leaving the bodywork as it is, scruffy. putting a set of wire wheels on, maybe painting them a brighter colour and lowering it a touch.

So today I had some bits dropped off, a complete rear axle, front hubs, and a set of wire wheels with some cool spinners for the Midget, who has now gained the name Rex. So I'm thinking painted wires with the chrome spinners, but what colour? I initially thought black but giving it a bit of thought I then went for either red or yellow against the green car. Any photoshop gods want to mock up my car with coloured wires?
