As title peeps, getting on with some work on the capper which should have it up to a half decent standard pace-wise. So the next thing to add to the shopping list, STAT, is a line-lock. Because i want to burn out, just like the bigger boys. Doing some research though and it seems like quite a few people use elctric/solenoid engaged line locks. I've never seen anything like it. The only ones i have seen used are the valves you see on brake line with a handle, presumably to lock the line and unlock. Which is the more popular, which is better and am I spouting curse word again. Any gen. welcome, ta. Because, as is demonstrated by these people at santa pod, smoking is dead cool: Cheers to hugh for the (excellent) pics. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc103.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc099.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc094.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc096.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc090.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc046.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v635/tigran86/Thugride/rcc040.jpg)

Burn outs are big and are clever. I'm looking to fit one myself - probably a manual valve. You just fit it in line with the front brakes so that when you stand on the brakes and shut the valve the fronts stay on whilst the rears free off. The solonoidy ones look like something to go wrong IMO.

its a valve which is opened and closed. Can be mechanical or electric. Universal opinion amongst people I know who have tried the mechanical only ones is that they suck.
Electric ones are more expensive.

I also read somewhere that you should install them differently for manual and auto cars but not sure why. Apparantley with an auto you should put the valve in the rear brake line. You then shut the rear brake line off without pressing the pedal, then you can push the brake and the throttle at the same time which locks the front wheels and spins the tyres.
On a manual you put it in the front brake line. You push the brakes on, lock the valve and then let go of the brake which locks the front brakes on. You can then use the clutch and accelerator to spin the wheels.
This is only what i've read i've only ever installed them on autos so duno about the manual one.

I have only come across the first type you mentioned, although I have heard of the second type also.

As lee says the electric uns seem like another thing to go wrong. The machanical sort, down the side of the tranny tunnel just seems 'right'.

so long as your brake lines run somewhere convenient I don;t see why not.

Whichever sort I end up using you can be sure it will be the cheaper one. Shoddy - maybe, dangerous - possibly, but cheap - definitely.

Ive been thinking about line lock too.
Thing is, i have two outlets fromthe master cylinder, one to each fromt brake.
Can i just use a t piece to make it ont line, then through the line lock, then another t to take it back to 2 lines?
Just doesnt feel right doing that though.
