Briefly been linked to a few motors for sale on here over the years and a mate's recommended this as an alternative place to sell my Coupe to Gumtree, which has proven to be less than successful in the week and a half it's been up. I'll basically cut and paste the ad I've got on there and provide some of the pics to give an idea (notice the drag and drop didn't work so will just link some pics and update if I refresh the Gumtree ad)...
The time has come to pass on my Fiat Coupe 20v NA (non-VIS) Porto to it's next owner. I've had it since October 2013 and in the 2 years plus, I've done a lot of remedial work and looked after it as best I can. However, I'd like a change plus I'd like to move it on to someone who can perhaps garage it and use it as a second car as I hate to park it on the street.
And so, the highlights...
- MOT till the beginning of June '16
- 97k miles, which will go up as I use it to get to work
- Plenty of service history (see the pic with the stamps), only ones missed were by the previous owner who serviced it himself. I've had it serviced and looked after by CM Garage Services in East Kilbride who are a Fiat/Alfa Romeo specialist
- Will do it's quoted 28mpg quite easily and I've seen 35 on longer journeys around the Highlands and down to Newcastle - it's a great GT car
- 3 keys including the main alloy key, all important red key and a non-original spare key
- 2 alarm fobs, one of which doesn't currently work as it needs re-coded to the car (I replaced the batteries in both just after buying the car)
- Full leather interior in good used condition - only the driver's bolster has the usual wear
- Electric windows, mirrors (heated)
- Remote central locking with alarm
- Alpine CD/MP3 headunit and I believe the speakers may have been upgraded judging by owners reviews of standard speakers(!) I took the standard Blaupunkt tape deck out as it was wrecked and the autochanger never worked, so it was removed for extra boot space (still have it)
- 147hp out of the box and the torque of the inline 5 makes overtaking easy
- Boot is far more spacious than it's Alfa GTV brother and even has a ski hatch, which helped in a recent move(!)
Modifications (all done before my ownership)
- BK racing 17" alloys with 205/45/17 tyres (with correct fitting 'Fiat' centre caps). These need a refurb, though I had planned to swap for standard 16" Coupe rims
- Locking wheel bolts for which I have two keys
- Powerflow cat-back exhaust - nice and tuneful
- Lower side skirts and front/rear skirts colour coded Portofino Blue
- LED sidelights/interior light
- Chrome/purple front indicators (no problem with last MOT as still flash amber)
During my ownership, work done to the Coupe includes (as well as standard services)...
- Front discs and pads plus flexi pipes, new rocker cover gasket, gearbox end plate re-seal, rear NS wheel bearing (15/10/15)
- Brake pipe rear NS, exhaust rubber, wheel balance, new washer jets (09/06/15 - for MOT)
- 4 new tyres (29/05/15)
- New starter motor, NSF lower arm (warranty - 10/12/14)
- NS rear brake caliper (12/09/14)
- OS CV Gator, new handbrake cables, o2 lambda sensor (02/06/14 - for MOT)
- Radius arm bushes, brake fluid change (14/04/14)
- Lower Arms (16/01/14)
Bad points
- body work isn't perfect but it is 18 years old and in far better condition than many Coupes I've seen. You'll be able to see some of the small dings in the pictures, the worst of which is one over the rear OS arch and there's also a small amount of rust at the bottoms of the arches but it's gotten no worse during my ownership. There's also a few scrapes on the bootlid from some yoofs who felt the need to run over it (only evidence of that, amazed there weren't any dents or other scratches left)
- Standard sticky centre console, which you'll get on most original Coupes. Easy enough to sort, I've just been paranoid about breaking clips
- remote central locking doesn't have great range though I think this is a trait of most Coupes with this system. The using your head as an antenna trick works well though(!)
So that's it, my Coupe. It's a great, individual car and the NA is one of the rarer ones at a little over 300 left on the UK roads (less than a third of the Turbos). The sound of that engine and the reactions this thing gets are something you can't describe. I've had people just walking past as I'm parked up and asking me about it and giving me compliments - I cringe when I read that in other adverts but it's really nice to drive something different to the usual humdrum box you see on the road these days.
Also, this being pre-2001, you're paying tax on capacity so it works out about £121 for 6 months if I remember correctly and insurance is cheap compared to the Turbo and other performance cars.
I think I'm asking a fair price but there's always some reasonable negotiation. These cars barely depreciate and I'm really only looking to get back what I paid for it. It's been a pleasure to own and I hope the next owner appreciates it as much as I have.
Any questions, just ask.
And please, cash only when it comes to payment - no bouncy cheques or suggestions of PayPal getting involved.
Thanks for looking.
