	Afternoon, Since the age of 17 I have always worked on my cars and bikes on my Mums' driveway. It used to have a single garage on it which got flattened by my Dad a couple of years after we moved in. I have always worked out in the open come rain, wind or snow and done anything from an oil change to a complete engine rebuild on that driveway! Recently I bought a new shape Mini that needed a few bits doing. I bought it during the summer months and progress was quick with the warm weather and light evenings. However the moment it started getting cold and wet I have been hibernating inside waiting for the nice weather to reappear. It seems that at the grand old age of 29 I no longer wish to work outside on cars in all weathers! This has turned into a bit of an issue as I need to get the Mini up and running so I can use it as my van isn't great as a daily driver. I decided a marquee might be the sort of thing I need. I did a bit of searching and managed to find one on eBay for just £139! It arrived a week or so ago and on Friday last week I put the frame together followed by the cover today. Well it's made a world of difference. It was warm and dry in there and you get absolutely no breeze coming in! I popped to B&Q earlier and picked up a couple of builders lamps to hang up so I've now got plenty of light in there and the lamps warm it up quite nicely too! Now annoyingly I slipped on the grass while building it and bent my knee in the wrong direction so I can't walk very well now, but all things well I will be out there after work tomorrow doing some work to the Mini So where does everyone else work on their cars? Outside, inside, under a marquee??? Cheers, Sammo

	I work on mine in the street if its basic stuff or if more complicated/long/involving it being raised or needing access both sides then its normally my parents drive lol. Hopefully it'll be a rebuilt garage at the back or hardstanding in the alleyway behind the house some point next year

	My neighbour had one of those Marquee things. Even though it was very well secured it got wrecked last year when there was a VERY windy day. It took off and wrecked the fence it was tied to as well.

	Neat idea,good for outdoor welding as well.Hows it hold up in the high winds? I have to work on the drive in the open too,until we sell up next year and get somewhere with a decent sized garage anway. Modern housing development garages are useless.There is actually a convenant on my house that says you can't work on cars on your own driveway either..stuff that ! I still like working outside in decent weather but it's no fun in winter anymore.Back in the day i thought nothing of rolling about in the wet and snow messing about with cars.Middle aged joints don't reckon much to that now so unless it's something that can't be put off i'll hibernate !

	I was thinking about getting one of those, looks a good buy for the money. Just not sure it would fit my drive though :/

	I used to work on my cars outside the house which made things interesting being on a very steep hill parked side on and had two council lock ups and another car in a friends lock up oh and car parked at work, shed full of parts and parts scattered all over the place. About 7 years ago I happened across a unit for rent which fitted three cars and all my parts and tools and had space outside for 8 cars all for £55 a week. I have now upgraded to a much larger workshop but only two outside spaces I realise I'm quite lucky to be able to afford this and would have to rethink if I ever changed jobs.

	Yep, 4 post Bradbury with wheel free system, when i step out of my livingroom i need to walk 15 meters to the 4 post.

	On the driveway or on the side of the road outside my house, i have gotten some funny looks when changing engines and gearboxes at the side of the road, i do need to get something like that marquee as I have a mk1 sierra project that I need to start by putting it on a rotisserie and welding it up

	got part of a barn to use has room for 2 cars and mt recovery truck can also use one of work units to work in but not keep stuff in

	Spent 7 years wrenching in the driveway, but since 1.5 years I'm renting part of an old barn. A few others in there in other parts of the farmyard - they've got two lifts which I can use as well, but in my space a lift won't fit. This was back when I first moved in, fits two cars comfortably. Some pictures over the time I've had it: Also recently rented the attic above it, still empty but gonna be useful for parts storage. We also ocassionally hold some meetups and BBQs in the yard. Looking back, I would never go back to wrenching in the drive way again, unless I absolutely had to.

	I have an understanding boss. I get use of the workshop when I need it (depending on immobile stuff in my way) and I might have one or two cars stored here too, possibly some spare parts too. Since being here I have vowed to never work on cars at home again. Ever. Sometimes I wash cars at home but that's it. There's a lot to be said about power tools and a 4 post lift and a kettle and an internet.

	I rent a 2 car and tools capable workshop, and I work from there. Unless it breaks at home, then I use my driveway.

	I used to use my mums single garage car port and front garden plus i used to rent an old chicken shed on a farm that would hold six in my racing days. These days I'm lucky enough to have a double garage at home problem is i have four or more projects!

	Driveway, probably the reason the Cortina ended up getting sold. This weekend I'm going to attempt painting the Polo's bootlid in a big old tent. Its just too cold and damp in the back garden at the moment.
