Evening all! Thought I'd start my first project thread on here. I've never really had a proper project other than my mini which I've had too long to write about! Anyway, I've just picked up this Metro. Got it from my mate who had been using it as his winter car. 28K from new and it's in decent condition, just needs some bits of interior trim putting back in... oh and... Yeah... he'd only been using it a few weeks when it had an altercation with an XC90. Hence why it's now a perfect project! I've started collecting parts and just deciding on wether to sell my daily (S-Type) and use this! A couple of years ago I had a minty mint GTa, 1.1 just like this Rio, I really enjoy these little K-Series lumps.

Let's try and inject some love into this headbutted Metro! First part arrived this weekend, I'm surprised by how cheap bits for these still are. I think I've located a wing, unfortunately it's silver and I can't seem to find any blue ones The other part which is eluding me is a front bumper, the current one is only cracked on the corner, so it will do for now, but I'd like to replace it. Did I mention it had only done 28K from new? It has little gems in it like this original tax disk holder. Tbh things like that are swaying me away from dropping a bigger engine in.

Hup, started the strip down tonight, it's much easier to take broken bits off, just pull! I'll have to get another bumper, this one has snapped a few lugs Mega simple to get the wing off aswell, only about 8 bolts in total! Thankfully there's no a post or door damage, the gap is still the same all the way round. Picking up another wing this week, proved to be the hardest part to get. In other news, my old metro has come up for sale. Doing everything I can to secure it so I'll be moving this one on fairly soon aswell.

After much fettling, of which I was too busy to photograph, it's finished!! There was plenty to do, inner wing had splayed out at the top and the headlamp panel was very much stoved in. A quick adjustment to the door aswell but I don't believe that was part of the accident! Anyway, it's time to do the good stuff, I'll be on the look out for some wheels once I have the funds together.

Cheers guys, they are very much unloved! Backed up by the fact that I'm really struggling to get hold of some bits, it's only a Metro! Lol Picked up my first modification tonight. In the accident a couple of the bumper's mounting points had been snapped and it had some damage which looked like it had been used in touch parking lol. There was only one black bumper on eBay and it was more than I wanted to spend really. So I found these GTi ones on Facebook for the same price, colour coded to boot aswell! They'll be really easy to paint as they're in very good condition, overall better than my own. The only down side, with them being GTi items, there was a splitter fitted to the front one which is no longer there it's a standard item so I'll just keep an eye out for one and plug the holes for now.

I adore Metro's did my Motorsport Btec building a group N spec one that had been stripped further. Sadly I could never have one as they are a death trap. :/

Yeah it is a shame really if just a little more thought went into the package it could of been amazing. The 25 which is based on the 200 roughly has 3 stars and the head issues just need uprated gaskets and steel dowels. If I had a roll cage Id have one as a daily haha.
