This is the sale of a Paris-built Citroen 2CV6 Special, a one owner car in fantastic, original condition.
The lady, who purchased it, Amanda, bought it brand new from Lee Byron Ltd Citroen, in Leicester on 11th May 1982. It was ordered in Bleu Lagune, and I believe the only option fitted was a radio.
She used it sparingly, and mainly in the dry, covering a total of 74971 miles until June 2008 when the allure of a modern Citroen meant she stopped using it. She didn’t want to part with the 2CV so the car was laid up and dry stored.
Jumping to present day and she has now, after 33 years, decided let someone else enjoy her Citroen.
This is where I come in. Amanda is a family friend, so I volunteered to sell it for her. I am not a trader, but I love cars so it was a pleasure to help her out with such an interesting car.
I had the 2CV transported to my friend (a fully trained vehicle technician) for a service which included a fuel drain and flush, oil change, front wheel bearing replacement, 4 new tyres and an MOT. Of course, this work is a drop in the ocean compared to the work it’s received over the years, of which there is documentation for every single bit, all enclosed in the huge history file sat here next to me...
Back to now, and I have spent today washing and polishing the 2CV. I haven’t gone overboard with it, and frankly it doesn’t need it. Looking around the body and chassis the paint looks great and is mostly original, there’s been a bit of work on the bonnet due to a fight with a pheasant (the pheasant lost) and a bit of touching up here and there. The chassis it seems has been thoroughly undersealed from new, preserving it. Even the inside of the bumpers is protected! This means it’s still riding on its original chassis which I believe is rare on these, and it’s all solid.
The roof is virtually prefect and there are a couple of nice additions in the form of Aluminium Robri fender covers, Chrome hubcaps, and front mud flaps.
Please note that the cherished number is currently being transferred off the car and the original number will be reinstated. The good news about this is that I have the original supplying dealer plates to refit.
The interior is clean, with minimal wear. The seats I believe are upgraded to Charleston spec covers
and the floors are covered by the original rubber mats plus Citroen over mats. The boot has a fetching(?) blue carpet covering a good spare wheel, wheel brace, and foot pump.
Mechanically, it has just passed an MOT so is all road legal, it has however spent the last 8 years tucked away in a garage so I would use it for a bit before tackling that Mongolia trip. Having said that, it goes, stops, changes gear and steers as it should. Most of the 28 ponies it had when new appear to be still there and the 602cc engine sounds lovely.
Enough waffling, have a look at some photos:
So, in summary, I guess the word that that describes this car is originality. It’s a just a really nice example. For this appreciating automotive timewarp, I am asking £4250.
Please feel free to give me a call or PM and have a chat about the car, even better come to Leicester and have a coffee and a look round it.
I can be contacted on O7808 83O949 and I am located in North Leicester, near the A46.
