So unfortunately i have to sell my truck. My reason for sale is sadly my Landlord passed away earlier this week, i rented a small annex on his property, his two sons are going to be putting the house on the market shortly including the annex i rent so i need to find somewhere else to live, the truck is my second vehicle, i used my Ford daily and i need to cut down on my monthly outgoings so i can afford somewhere to rent and i cant currently justify two cars anymore which is a shame as the truck was so handy when i needed to move stuff or lug my tools about or even just use when i couldnt be bothered to deal with the hassle of a clutch pedal!
I bought this truck back in the summer with the idea of having a big comfy auto i can chuck all my tools and everything in and bumble about, I used it as a second vehicle having my Ford as a boring daily. It drives well and is smooth throughout the gears. It's not fast but it wasn't designed to be its a big lazy diesel. It's the long wheel base version meaning it can be a 7 seater, the two back seats were unbolted before i owned it and didnt come with it however you can pick a set up used on ebay for little to no money at all and they bolt straight in if you need the additional 2 seats.
Since owning it i have done a few bits, it hasnt 'needed' anything other than an alternator as about a month after i got it that gave out. I replaced it with a brand new Alternator that included the vacuum pump for the 4WD System on the back, i have the receipt for this the Alternator itself cost me £109. at the time of changing the alternator i also changed all 3 front belts for new ones as they looked a bit old again i have receipts to back this up.
Other than replacing the alternator and belts it's had fresh oil/filter, air filter, have a spare fuel filter to go with it never got around to putting it on. New number plates to freshen it up a little and other than that it's needed nothing.
Returns around 25MPG Town and at a push 28-30 On longer runs which isnt bad considering the size and weight of it.
I managed to insure it through Adrian flux's import policy for £415 a year and considering I'm 23 that's not too bad.
It's a 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero.
-Import, came into the UK in 2002.
-83K Miles (Odometer is in KM so it shows 135K Which is 83K Miles) MOT History etc to back this up.
-Full 12 months MOT, Expires in December 2016.
-Full 2WD and 4WD Mode including a locking rear diff.
-Typical JDM level of kit, Funky blue interior Air con etc also Altimeter and other cool little dials.
-Wind deflectors which i think were standard on the JDM Pajeros.
-Extremely solid enough, no sign of rot at all, the chasis legs have surface rust on but it is only surface rust it is completely structurally sound i was going to give them a wire brush and a coat of Waxoyl but never got around to it. It has been undersealed at some point when it's been in the UK you can see but it wouldnt hurt to have a freshen up under there, it's not going to rot away any time soon though.
-The glow plug heaters are on a button on the dash so you put the ignition on hold the button for a few seconds and it fires straight up
-Rear fog is also wired on via a switch on the dash.
It's the earlier 2.5 TD Engine not the 2.8, Having also driven a 2.8 there's little difference in the way they drive, both big lazy diesel lumps. Apparently the 2.8 Is prone to headgasket failure and the 2.5 is not? No idea if this is true but its what i've read/been told, all i know is this engine has been spot on for me and works as it should.
Bad points: (It has some, it's a 22/23 Year old Truck)
-The 4WD Dash lights flash sometimes? It's intermittent and the 4WD system works fully including the diff lock. If you google it there's a ton of threads about it on many forums and 'easy fixes' etc etc, It's never bothered me, it stopped doing it completely for about a month after i replaced the Alt/Vac pump but then it comes back on every now and then, probably 50% Of the time it flashes the other times it doesn't.
-Uses a tiny ammount of oil? I imagine due to be an old turbo diesel? It's really nothing noticeable but i check it every fortnight and it barely moves, i've topped it up once in the 6/7 months ive owned it and that was less than half a litre.
-Paint is nothing special, its by no means bad but it's just tired in places with a few scattered scratches and marks but it cleans up nice enough.. but again it's a truck not a supercar.
-I have no proof of the cambelt being done, i was told by the previous owner it was done in 2014 but i have no evidence of this, i whipped the covers off and it looks good to me.
Lastly, Advisories on the MOT this year. Nothing major and all very cheap to sort,
Brake pipe offside rear slightly corroded
Both rear anti roll bar bushes slightly deteriorated
Small exhaust leak (In the mid section, you can see it where the join is but cant hear it, just notice the black soot around it a new gasket would sort it.)
Front anti roll bar linkage has slight play
Other than those few advisories it flew through and I'm confident it will next year providing its looked after
Right, important part. Pictures!
Car is currently dirty but will do my best to give it a wash before it goes i will also get a jerry can and put some diesel in it because it's low and its not insured anymore for me to drive.
Any requests for pictures of other areas feel free to ask and i'll do my best to get them taken!
Overall it's a good honest truck that does no more or no less than it needs to do.
I'm located in Holt, Wiltshire (10 Minutes outside of Bath) More than happy to collect somebody from a train station close by or whatnot.
I'm asking £1000 which is what i paid for it in the summer, i figure with any car the money you spend on maintenance/new parts etc isnt something you get back, the trucks worth what I'm asking all day especially with a fresh MOT.
Not after any sort of P/x I'm afraid, i need to cut down to 1 car so it has to go. If you want to make me an offer do it properly, let me know when you want to come and take a look, take a look and make an offer in person, i really get frustrated by constant messages asking if i'd take less money for it, if i would i'd have advertised it for less, it's worth what I'm asking but if you're geniune and come and view it with the intention to buy i might budge a little.
My number is 07564046341 PLEASE text before calling, i don't answer numbers i don't recognize and a lot of the time you'll get a quicker reply by texting me anyhow.
Anything i've missed out let me know and i'll sort asap.
Thanks, Dan
