1981 Rover SD1 2600s Auto
For sale is my Rover SD1. I've not owned this car for very long, only a couple of months in fact, but don't let that put you off. When I bought it it hadn't been on the road for over 5 years, had numerous mechanical and electrical problems and needed some welding. This has all now been done and the car has 11 months MOT.
So, the car. It's not perfect. But it's not a wreck either. It's structurally solid, has no braking issues, starts and runs well and drives fine. The body panels are all good, a couple of small bubbles here and there but around the windscreen, boot lid and other usual bits are all good. The paintwork however....isn't. It's very faded and patchy, and has had some poor attempts at painting with a can. It's OK and as an everyday driver its fine, but at some point you'll want to sort it.
I lowered the car with Vitesse uprated springs, and added the Vitesse rear spoiler. It now handles pretty well and looks good. I've also just spent quite a bit fitting a new back box, and repairing the original exhaust.
Electrically everything important works. However the rear windows don't, neither does the sunroof. It's not bad for an SD1 though!
The interior is a nice place to be, comfy and warm with no leaks. The headlining has sagged a bit though, and the D-post trims are worn.
Why am I selling it? I never planned to keep it. I have a huge soft spot for the SD1 and this one needed help. Not many people would take an old 2600 and get it running and MOT'd again. Cars like this need to be saved and used.
That's about it, any questions please ask. I'm using the car everyday and its ace.
