Regrettably, I think its time to sell my 2 door Minor project, as I have too much on my plate and would rather see the car go to someone who will do the car justice and finish it properly. I purchased her in spring 2013 and have since spent countless hours on the car and spent far more money than the asking price. I have hundreds of photos showing all the stages of restoration I have already undertaken, most can be seen here. I have done extensive welding to bring it to its current rust free state, been through all the brakes, steering and suspension with new parts from ESM as listed below. It is effectively been restored from the inside out, as the underside is much prettier than the current paintwork!! With a good paint job and continued reassembly this should be a very nice car.
List of welding and panels I have replaced:
-Front chassis legs
-Front x member
-Engine bay floors
-LH and RH flitches
-LH and RH A-posts
-LH and RH hinge pillars
-LH and RH inner wing panels
-Door bottoms
-Floor pan around sill area and O/S footwell
-Entire front and rear spring hangers
-Rear chassis legs
-Rear boot floor
-Lower boot finisher
-Back portion of both front wings
-Boot lock bridge
-Both rear arches where the rear wings bolt on
Besides the welding to the shell, the entire underside has been stripped to back bare metal, coated with Electrox primer, then stonechipped in black and liberally seam sealed. The interior floorpan has had the same treatment and stonechipped in white.
The boot has been painted in Hammerite smooth black.
All parts purchased new from ESM (East Sussex Minors) with receipts
Now onto the mechanical side of things:
New rubber bushes throughout (inc.engine steady)
New steering ball joints
New front hub bearings
All new brake shoes and cylinders all around
Reconditioned front dampers
New hoses, nuts and brake pipes
New master cylinder
New clutch relay linkage, rubber bushes, rods etc
New pedal shaft, brake and clutch pedals
New bump stops
All suspension arms, rear axle, uprights and components painted black Hammerite and reassembled with new buts, bolts an washers.
Rear axle cleaned, painted, new halfshaft gaskets (old ones were leaking), new brakes, new rear hose and fixings.
Steering column stripped, cleaned, and painted.
All work has been done with care, to the best of my ability, not bodged. As it stands it is a rolling shell, with doors, wings, bonnet and bootlid off. Really the next stage is to have the filler sorted and give it a lick of paint. The engine has not been touched, but ran fine when I bought he car and all I was going to do was paint it, change the leads, plugs, points, rebuild the carb, change the water hoses (leaky) and possibly change the clutch since the engine's out.
£1500
I would much rather talk on the phone to anyone interested rather than rally messages, my number is 07972697065.
Car is near Yeovil in South Somerset. Viewing weekends only!!!
