Hello, I'm 24 and live just out of Manchester. Having looked all over the place for an apprenticeship in classic car restoration and having no luck, I decided that I'd try my luck on here. I love classic cars and am desperate to get working on them even if it means working for free on weekends. If you know anybody who would let me work with them, even if it just means cleaning the workshop then please get in touch.

Have you thought about going to college / night school and getting qualified as a welder or paint sprayer ? After all welding and paint are the same whether a modern or classic so at least you would then have some skills to use in either world.

As much as the government want young people in work and say there're giving x amount of money to get more apprentiships, I think there's still way more people than places.
As someone said. Go and do welding or something at college least it's a start and you may find work
ATB.

I would go for a welding/metal fabrication course. Much greater employment opportunities, to pigeon hole yourself as a 'classic car restorer' is quite the niche market. Not many classic owners will get stuff restored the tend to be much more hands on DIY peeps. Like uslot.

I would seriously recommend hiring a garage or barn somewhere to begin with, shop around and try not to use an estate agent for cheapness ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Buy a welder, compressor and a few tools and have a go ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Suprising what you can teach yourself ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
