For sale is my 1979 vw Baywindow camper van. Ive owned this van for 13 years and had many great adventures in him (Vernon). Ive decided to sell him because I feel that its time for a change and I would like him to go on more adventures with a new family.
1979 Tin top Vw camper with a westfalia Contentail interior.
The Interior is all complete except for a few handles on the cupboards. I has the additional fold out table (which I place in the wardrobe for easier storage. The interior consists of a toolbox, sink, water storage (however have never used) wardrobe with mirror, two hobs, rock ’n’ roll bed and plenty of storage.
It has been upholstered in a tweed and leatherette style which has been done to last. The front seats have also been done which are a 1/3 and 2/3 as the bus use to be a minibus model. Also I have replaced the headliner with a new one from Vwtrim.
Veron also had a new paint job around 4 years ago and apart from a few scratches it looks as good as new. paint job cost me around £2500 as i wanted to make sure all the work I had done would be protected. The wheels are old style wolfram slot mags which were on the van when i brought it many years ago and i still haven’t seen a van with a set on. Has been lowered with a drop of a spline on the back and adjustable front beam on the front. There is space to lift it if required.
There is also a deluxe kit that comes with it. however i was never sure whether I want to have it on or not. The holes are there ready and all the trim is there also. The front windows have opening 1/4 lights and i also have the fan for the heater (which use to be fitted and working but never got round to fitting back on as i only drove it in summer).
I have restored him over many years replacing panels, brake lines, brakes and many other items.
The engine was built about 4 years ago to make sure that i could go up hills as i didn’t want to have to feel like a slug up a wall. So i spent around £4500 and placed a few extra toys inside.
2 ltr type 4, has a Porsche case with 1800 heads. 96mm barrels and pistons, Straight cut gears, Jake Raby cam and followers, twin Dellorto 40’s, turbo thomas exhaust. Last time it was on the rolling road it was 150 bhp and 180lbtq and pulls up every hill in 4th that I've tried. Also helps that it is a 2ltr gearbox
Theres a few little things that need finishing but its a small snagging list so won’t take long to do.
Comes with mot till July 2016. no welding required.
£16,500 ovno based in Worcester.
I'm sure there are more things need to say about Vernon but if you want any questions please ask. And can also provide any photos for you also. email crazyfuzzfish@gmail.com
