So after years of tactical and mental warfare hailed by me my old man has decided he is willing to let his bakkie go! It is a 1984 nissan/datsun pick up aka champ aka sunny truck. It has an extensive list of mechanical mods and a few body jobs. My next issue is whether or not it would be a good idea to bring it up here.... yes... its way back in Africa, Zimbabwe to be precise. It will cost circa 1-1.5 k to ship here, excluding import duties etc. So just wondering if I should go with my heart and bring it or go with the head and sell it on there. Any advice or thoughts? Would it be an investment in the long term etc. Never tried the poll feature on here so why the hell not  Oh, some pics.... taken on my last visit. car is up and running now.    |

I forgot to mention the other deciding factor..... starts with W and ends with E .... I have to prove to her its a worthwhile investment/outlay. I have added the poll so I can show her that its not just me who thinks its a good idea. |

If it was just a mechanically modified bakkie, I would say sweet, import it. However, going by the photos, that wide arch conversion seems to involve a lot of body filler. Think it would bubble,blister and rot very quickly on this mudbank.....

There are a couple on ebay going for cray money, in original condition though, circa 7K. that 7k would ship this in and give me 5k to build a beast.

Just a thought, if it's your Dad's isn't there a way he can bring it over as a personal vehicle that he has owned in the country of origin and avoid the tax (if that's not to shamefully capitalistic of me to say)?

Hi mate .these little datto's in aus are in high demand and worth quite abit in ex cond.ive always wanted one of these.i think they are awesome dude,it sux about the mods to body.its okay but here like she is.would sell for around 3-3.5k i reckon.an unmolested one would be around 6-7gs.one worked a tad more we can get rear quarters ,guards bonnet tailgate .just to name a few
as above if it has sentimental value ship her bud

No haven`t shipped it yet. If I do it will probably be nearer to june next year. I have had some interest in it back in Zims so it may go if the price is right.

That's upsetting unless you've a) sold it to someone in the UK and it's being shipped over regardless or b) done a deal with a 510 that you're shipping over.
