Thinking of buying a car and using temporary insurance for 30 days to insure it*, will I be able to tax it like this?
*Reason i want to do this is as soon as it gets to 2016 the insurance provider I want to go with will insure it (they will count it as 20yrs old)

For what its worth, I do not believe that the tax system checks insurance. If you listen to the automated message it mentions checking the valid MOT, but there is no mention of insurance anywhere on it.
Not tried it on an uninsured car yet, but as far as I can tell, insurance is not needed to tax a car using the new system.
Thus, a temp policy should be able to be arranged to get you to 2016.

As above. If you tax it on line there's no chec k for insurance to be able to get tax
I've bought two cars under the new system and both taxed without issue, one was from a dealer who put tax on for me and didn't need confirmation of my insurance to be able to do so.

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

Have you asked your insurer about insuring it?

just tax it online and pay by direct debit, then cancel it when you want to
