Hello and welcome to the very reluctant sale of my highly cherished BMW 318is (E36) which I have owned for 10 years.
It has covered 71,000 miles from new and comes with MOT until 16th September 2016 and needless to say no advisories were recorded on the last test and it was given a full and thorough service at around the same time.
The car is as close to spotless inside and out as you’re ever likely to find for a 21 year old modern classic and comes with the following treasure trove of original items:
· Original tool kit
· Original First Aid kit
· Original Warning Triangle in original blue case
· Original hand book pack and service book (fully stamped)
· Original dealer plates from highly respected BMW dealer, Dick Lovett (I have replaced the plates with new ones this year to reflect the condition of the car, but have always kept the originals)
· All three original BMW keys
The car is fitted with a full, genuine M3 bodykit. The rear bumper, side skirts, diffuser, door mouldings and spoiler were from a genuine M3 which was broken for spares. The front bumper and wing mirrors were imported from Germany and were produced using the original tooling in the original GRP plastic. The wing mirrors are of course electrically adjustable and heated and the blue lamination is 100% perfectly in tact.
The leather interior is virtually unmarked and is very hard to find an E36 leather interior in such condition.
The car has another few subtle extras such as Carbon Fibre and Silver BMW roundels, genuine M-Tech accessory milled aluminium handbrake handle, upgraded gearknob, M3 tail lights with smoked top section, window tints and Ferodo DS2500 front brake pads. All of the upgrades are subtle and either genuine BMW or of the highest quality and are in keeping with the original style.
The biggest upgrades are the Eisenmann Quad Exit exhaust system (cost £1089.98) and the Replica Gruppe M Carbon Fibre CAI (Cost £298). This gives the car a beautiful sound. It’s far from loud and doesn’t drone, but just gives the sound of the car an extra bit of depth, particularly at idle which sounds fantastic. The original air box will be supplied with the car, as well an extra, uncut genuine M3 rear diffuser.
The wheels have recently been refinished in anthracite and have 4 excellent matching Falken tyres all round. The fronts have only covered around 1000 miles and the rears around 2500 miles.
The gleaming Cosmos Black paintwork has recently been treated to a £600 professional machine polish. I believe that all of the paintwork is original with the exception of the bodykit and other extras plus the O/S/R Quarter which I had refinished when I first bought the car as it has a light scratch along it, probably from a bike or supermarket trolley as it wasn’t deep enough for a key scratch, but wasn’t quite light enough to polish out fully and the roof which had a few odd marks on it as if it had been parked under a tree or something at some point in its life.
During my ownership the car has always been parked indoors in a heated and dehumidified garage. There is no rust on the bodywork and never has been.
All original glass, honest clean and original looking engine bay.
I have recently treated to car to a few new parts from BMW. I replaced anything that was showing its age, including the following:
· Side Window Seals
· Rear Windscreen Seal
· Front Scuttle Panel & Seals
· Exterior Door Handle Cover and Seals
· Headlight Seals
In short, here we have an E36 which has never wanted for anything. Has a whole heap of original items which I doubt 99.9% of other E36’s left with have with them. It’s a car which (providing it is kept in this condition) will only appreciate in value. It’s the perfect blend of classic BMW styling and modern day usability and comfort. It has electric windows, sunroof and mirrors, all working of course, yet is very easy to work on and maintain. It is the last of the truly “mechanical” BMW’s. It has never been raced, rallied, thrashed, abused or drifted.
As said, I have owned this car for 10 years. It was my first BMW. I have owned many other more expensive and powerful ones in the mean time, but this one has always been special to me and I never intended to sell it at any point, but growing businesses and an impending house move means I have little time to take my cars to shows or enjoy them to their full any more, hence the sale.
The price is a very firm £2500. I have plenty of room to store the car and don’t “need” to sell. The car is exercised at least once a week on private land whether it’s in use or not (currently tucked away for winter, but I don’t like to leave a car standing).
Good 318is' are getting few and far between. It took me months of searching 10 years ago to find this one amongst the many ropey examples out there and back then an eBay search brought up pages of them. Now there are a mere handful and good ones are virtually non-existant. The 318is is a breed that needs to be preserved now. It came from the M Division when BMW needed a sporty 4cyl car for touring car racing when the M3 switched to 6cyl.
Any questions please do not hesitate to ask. I can arrange delivery of this car if required.
Strictly cash on collection only.
