Here's my little project I've been working on, it's took many hours even to just get to this stage, but it'll be awesome when it's completed!
It's a 1:18 Mk1 Golf GTi by Welly.
The model was already very well detailed, but I want to put my own stamp on it...so the work began!
It was stripped down as far as I needed, the first step was to find the right wheels... After a few hours of trawling through eBay i settles for Fiesta RS Turbo 3 spokes. I gave them a coat of darky grey with a gloss red lip and had the original GTi tyres fitted... I think they turned out decent enough! Just got the Caliper to paint red now.
And I couldn't resist having a test fit...
I couldn't settle for a standard interior, so the original seats were ripped out and replaced with a pair of Sierra Cosworth Recaro's, also painted dark grey. I then set about making some seatblets out of spares I had lying about from older models.
The bumpers were a bit curse word, and still had bits of the tabs on where they've been snapped off from the mould, so they were all smoothed off and given a coat of proper bumper texture paint.
I took the 'engine bay' out, and I'm painting that purple, with silver touches, then the VR6 will be ready to be fitted! Then I added a few little touches, such as a Sierra Cosworth back box, and I de-badged the tailgate, and I'm painting the red strip on the grille silver, not massive improvements, but it'll all add to the finished product!
And that's about as far as I'm on with it at the minute, I'm going to be starting a ratty Mk1 TDI project next week, so I'll stick some pictures up of that as/when it arrives.
Thanks for looking!
