sorry darren...i was going on like a budgie....re your question ...the MO is a morris minor on steroids...designed to be a proper 5 seater...with perhaps 6 at a push...fitted with a 1476cc "plodder" of an engine...doesnt go anywhere fast..but always gets there...bench leather seats front and rear,4 speed column change... and made between 1948 and 1954...and just a bit more "plush" than the minor... well it would be plush if it had a bloomin heater...lol ...definitely on my to do list...(round smiths heater sitting here ) really roomy...AND these cars were rust proofed during manufacture...seems to have worked quite well...car is solid... cheers...al cool! so its not physically bigger? p.s i'm not in to "scene mods" either, to me its a bit like "goths" or "emo's" i've got no problem with how anyone expresses themselves, but if they want to be different then why is their "alternative" the same as everyone elses? anyways, get a cup of tea, more cocodamol and a sarnie, spend a few hours browsing around i would say. some stonking build thread on here, the forum strength is diversity, one thing we do all have in common is giving a curse word about old cars!

Sorry to hear about your illness - keep kicking its backside! I reckon that with a mildly warmed over engine with a few 'reliability' modifications; electronic ignition etc... Or even a bone-stock Zetec or similar, it would make a great outfit with a period caravan *n

one thing we do all have in common is giving a curse word about old cars! Spot on. I think that`s what makes this place so great, there are all sorts of people (young and not so young)and ideas on here, I am sure mine is not everyones cup of tea being not at all heavily modified (and being a TR7!) but the point is people always appreciate what others are in to even if it is not their cup of tea. Get down to a Retro Rides meet LS, really interesting due to the huge variety on show, much more interesting than single make meets imo.

Lovely old motor.
Reading the above comments I'd say this car definitely counts as Retro in my opinion. I can't think of many more retro cars than a fifties Morris!

Love this old thing mate. One of my earliest motoring memories was mum's uncle's Oxford. Next model after this. Think it was a '56. The great thing about a car like that is that it is new enough to be a reliable daily but old enough to be cool.

hi..iv just fitted my new wheels and tyres to the MO.. the wheels are the standard centres with the hoops from a vauxhall astra welded to them...giving me 6x15"...i have used 205/65/15 michelins, though i may yet go for a taller tyre on the rear... next thing will be to fit my external visor, hopefully do that this weekend cheers...al

Those wheels look great, have been looking around for alternative rims for my MO but cant find anything that would fit as PCD and et issues. Heres are links to fitting a MGB engine re backplate and flywheel issues : http: //mgcars.de/seiten/mgaengine.html and mgaguru.com/mgtech/engine/cs200.htm My car already has an B series 1622 engine in it.

Please, please, please reconsider the visor! Dunno why but I have always detested them, the automotive equivalent of a bleedin baseball cap.
