Hi. Hope it's okay to ask as it's a modern not a retro but there are so many talented folk on here ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Dad has got. C4 picasso. It's a 2008 diesel with really rubbish egs gearbox. The gears are kangarooing in first. Took it to citroen and they reckon it needs a clutch but it also had dpf warnings going off. They replaced a sensor and took it for a drive and it the dpf warnings have gone off but the jerky gear change is still there. They now are saying the clutch us ok but there is metal in the fuel . It's just had a service and new fuel filter. I have told dad to px it for summat else but he likes it . Anyone got any experience on this kinda off thing? Thanks. Jed

Sounds a bit strange, would have thought it would drive badly all the time if there was some sort of blockage. There is a chance the fuel filter fitted had something in it. It's annoying to think you take a Citroen to a Citroen garage they ought to be able to diagnose the problem instead of guessing like moist places do.

Annoying? Yes completely curse word, Citroen are only interested in selling you their next piece of crampon offer, I had so much trouble with main dealer on my new pluriel I had, they couldn't sort a thing, and every time it went in it came out with more issues, things damaged, not fixed, lies, apologies etc. Stuck it on eBay at 4 years old, 99p start as sick of the whole experience. Find an independent garage, don't waste your money at the stealers.

Yeah I thought the same. I am going to give it a burn down the motorway using the paddles to get the revs up a bit and see if that helps. I have a volvo meself and an old honda hrv for knocking around in and both are so well made compared to the citroen.

That's the problem. They seem to fit different parts and it's still theme. They already paid 75 for a computer download. 150 for the sensor and 400 for a recent sensor. It's a money pit.

Sounds like a clutch issue as stated. You can try having the EGS auto-adaptives reset, this may help, but once the clutch wears to a point, the ECU can't really operate it correctly but I'd try getting an independent Citroen specialist to do a reset. The metal filings in the fuel are from the HP fuel pump. Just stick a new fuel filter in it a few time in succession and clean the bowl out to prevent any further contamination.

Is the fluid in the reservoir on the side of the gearbox up to max mark and is is clean . These are s crock but I've siphoned the fluid out and replaced it on one of these and it stopped thumping going into 1st and reverse . It's a specific oil and a litre will do the job .

I have a feeling you are confusing this with something else, the EGS is a normal manual gearbox with a motorised clutch and gear selector, it only has gearbox oil, as per the same fully manual gearbox.

actuators are hydraulic and the reservoir is on the side of the box accesed through the arch liner , it doesnt hold much and leaks are common and often missed as you cant see it from the engine bay , mcp actuator fluid is around £30 for a litre

Seems the smaller sensodrive PSA boxes are electric, the bigger ones are electro-hydraulic. So worth checking as Froggy says.

Thanks for your help guys. Either way the egs is sh1te . Took it for a run tonight and the sensor they have changed seems to have helped it a bit somehow. Whilst it's running smooth I am trying to get dad to trade it in. I have had 4 bx,s, a zx, 2 xantias and a synergie. All were good then got a c8 and nowt but trouble with cheap electrics. Moved to volvos after that

the newer ETG version of that gearbox is a delight, my new Berlingo van will have it after a good test drive of one,
