Really pains me having to do this but with current job situations I am going to have to run my cheap as chips peugeot for a while.
Basic bits:
-173500 miles
-MOT til June 2016
- Absolutely 100% fully documented history from new. It has all the relevant stamps in the book for its whole life and has a binder about 4 inches thick of about every receipt since it drove out of the showroom!
-Has the better looking lower front foglight bumper and toast rack rear splitter.
Right... I bought this car in July. Went and collected it from Birmingham and drove it back to Aberdeen. It had been making a clunking noise on deceleration which I had supposed was engine mounts. Turned out it was the clutch rubber going, and I needed to get this sorted if I were to use it. So since July It has had..
-New Clutch kit and all associated seals etc.
-New belts and tensioners
-Replaced oil cooler housing seals etc. to stop leak.
-Replaced both engine mounts with proper hydraulic ones.
-Put on a set of cookie cutters with new front tyres and pretty new rears.
-Oil and filter change with 15w40 semi synth.
-New Plugs
-Coolant change with the correct coolant for aluminium blocks
-New air filter
-New shift bush and gaitor (Absolute pleasure to shift now as opposed to having a floppy gearstick)
-New front discs and pads
-New sunroof seal
For anyone that knows these cars, you could probably pay for the car with the bills from all of that work! The clutch and belt were done by a porsche specialist and all other work carried out by myself.
Before I received the car, recent notable things its had are
-Replacement suspension
-Replacement exhaust
-Respray in 2011 (Being genuinely honest the respray isn't amazing, but it certainly looks better than tatty paintwork. The quality of the paint job is stunning and the paint is really deep, however some seals you can see where the paint has seeped a bit. Honestly hardly noticeable but I'm being very pedantic and honest)
-Both sills and arches welded professionally - You wont find any rust on this car, part of the reason why I bought it.
-Full black leather interior conversion, so no cracked dash or torn seats. Its actually lovely to sit in. The seats are electric but hooked up to the manual runners. Cant see it being difficult to wire them in.
Like I say i'd like to be totally honest. I'm assuming someone looking at this car would be travelling as i'm in Aberdeen. Therefore i'll detail some 'bad bits'
-I bought a fog light switch for the car but the fogs only come on with main beam. Not really a serious issue and i've been told its a relay missing/not working.
-The sunroof tag that holds the front microswitch had broken off of my roof. I bought a second sunroof but have put the bits onto it yet. If I haven't done this before it sells then the new sunroof will go with the car.
-The center cubby is a bit broken at the hinge. Classic 944 problem. The glovebox arms are also broken. Another classic 944 problem. Both cheap fixes.
-The vinyl on the trim piece between the drivers door and sunroof is torn. Simple retrim or leave it alone. Doesnt really bother me as you don't really look at it.
-Has a toad alarm/immobiliser. Great for insurance purposes but can be a bit fiddly until you get used to it and can sometimes make the starter a bit lazy but never ever fails to start. It does give it central locking on the button etc. so pretty good.
-Speedo is occasionally a bit lazy. light tap infront of the dial and it kicks into life and is fine for a couple of days.
Thats pretty much it. It's a very sound reliable car would still be an absolutely ideal daily, which is pretty much how I have used it. Its not too bad on fuel, 33 ish on a run and sounds fantastic when you plant the organ pedal (yeah its floor mounted). I wouldnt hesitate to drive it back to Birmingham or further afield if I needed to! Its comfortable, easy to drive and pretty nippy for a 30 year old car. Classic insurance is cheap and tax is £20 a month. Best of all however it turns plenty of heads.
The price I'm asking is £3200 to someone from here which I think is pretty reasonable, especially when you consider the work its had done to it. I mean its now mechanically sound for a very very long time, and some 944s you just don't know. Especially with a FSH I think its a good deal.
I'm located in Aberdeen, Scotland. We have a train station AND an airport (yes really!) so I don't have an issue picking up any potential buyers.
You can contact me through here or on 07876065762. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, especially picture requests etc. I'll upload one for the moment and tomorrow i'll get some good ones with the camera providing the weather is okay!
