I`ve just bought this as another Series project, but thought I`d offer it on here while it sits around doing nothing, waiting to be worked on.
Tax exempt Series 3 88" truck cab. 2.25 diesel engine, which starts and runs well. Battery is far from great, so a new one might be needed......but it might charge. Starts on a jump pack without issue.
No MOT. Shouldn`t take much to get one though, a couple of bulbs and brakes bleeding/balancing is about all I can see. I`m happy to get a fresh MOT, but the price would then be £1995, which is still cheap for an MOT`d tax exempt S3.
It`s a typical Land Rover in the way that it has plenty of "character". Both wings have dents, the N/S one with a 3 inch split too. This could be left as it, or would be an easy fibreglass repair for someone if you wanted to. Door have both dropped about 20mm and the tub sides have a few creases/dings etc as expected. Truck cab roof is the same. The interior is functional, but tatty.
The chassis is very good, and totally solid including the rear crossmember and outriggers. The bulkhead also looks to be a good one, with just the normal dings and a bit of flaky paint on the corners etc. Solid though. It has free wheeling hubs fitted too. Goes through the gears as it should, 4x4 works as it should also.
I`ll be stealing the drop down tailgate off this for another project, but it will be replaced with another, not so straight one. It could be left as is, just painted so it doesn`t look so obvious or repaired and made good.
The price is £1500, and this is pretty firm please. I kow what this will fetch once painted and MOT`d, which is what i`ll be doing with it once I`ve finished my current Series 2 project.
Feel free to come and take a look, and a poke around and drive it around the farm to check all works as it should. Transport can be arranged at cost through a trusted third party.
These are the only pictures I have at the moment, but will take more once I`ve taken delivery of it.
