Oh my! that sounds fantastic! It certainly seems a darn sight quicker than my own XJR, I couldn't get the bonnet to rise that quick (Valium? ) even allowing for the fact it's a manual - be really interested to see the output figures. Have you considered an M90 GenV ? the snout is shorter but apparently the output and efficiency is higher. Great build by the way - like the V12 Grille www.grandprixforums.net/threads/49039-The-Eaton-Gen-V-supercharger-faq-swap-thread!!-(genv-gen-five-gen-5) Carsie

Many thank's Smiler, edwardbear, Carsie for your kind comments Have you considered an M90 GenV ? the snout is shorter but apparently the output and efficiency is higher. Carsie Yes, I sure have considered it many times. But, with all the job already done to the G3, I'll leave it as it is. Maybe not a very professional port job but anyway. Think the car for the moment is enjoyable enough for my taste with the present power. One must also remember that the engine now has been used for 20 years and not always in the kindest way. Bulletproof is the saying but I don't know. There is also some doubts whether it is at all possible to find anyone who could supply, for example, new main or rod bearings for those engines. The gen5 is certainly better but it's in no way a bolt-on. I think I would rather try to find a M112 gen5 if I decided to upgrade. Don't think it should be much difference in job or expences. /cheers

Hello django For fun I have tried to sort of visualize the gear shifts and make a p in p video out of the Megalog file that was captured in the ”sound example” but I have given that up for the moment, got too bad resolution in YT. Add a picture of the graph from the beginning of the video instead. Red is throttle, green is boost in kPa, yellow is AFR and white is rpm. Second to third at 5770, third to fourth at 5900, fourth to fifth at 5300 - which is, with 225/60 tyres and 3.54 gear and if my math is correct, some 170 - 175 kph. The dash cam gps speedometer visible in the right corner in the video is always a bit slow, lagging a few seconds. And I don’t think it’s very critical when shifting into next gear with this engine, it’s loads of power all way up. Very big difference compared to the n/a 4.0 AJ6 and AJ16 I’ve had, they seemed to be almost starving for air even before reaching the 5k. About the nose lift or ”quick rise” I suppose it’s most of all , besides a good responsive engine, the sign of a very comfortable, soft and oldfashion suspension. /cheers

A very short complement to the sound clip posted a few days ago, this time a bit more of the exhaust tone.
And some nice views, autumn afternoon, somewhere in the Scandinavian countryside.

Hi Django
Glad to help you with the TS settings if possible. Problem is that I'm right now away from home fore some time, a bit lack of good pc supply so a picture has to wait until later.
Ignition settings - options/wheel dec -
Spark mode : toothed wheel Skip pulses : 3 Ignition input capture : Rising edge Spark output : Going high Number of coils : single coil Spark A output : I'm using the JS10, depends on hardware config. Trigger wheel input : single wheel with missing tooth I'm using a modified 60-1 wheel with one more teeth removed to make it a 60-2, also relocated some 90 deg, nothing at all necessary. Gives a BTDC tooth #1 angle of 83 deg (only useful for this t.w. spec) Wheel speed : crank Fixed advance : use table Use prediction : 1 deriv prediction Cranking dwell : 6.0 Cranking advance : 10.0 Dwell type : standard dwell Nominell dwell : 2.8 Spark Duration : 0.9 Spark hardware latency : 0
Will post some pics of the TS settings when I'm back home, hope to in a week or two.
/cheers

django, Happened to see that the trigger wheel setting has been posted in this thread once before, nov 11 2015. I post that pic again as it is, as I can see, exactly the same as the one that is used today. There has been some small changes to the AFR and Spark tables since nov 2015 so I add pics of the current settings. The spark is sort of tuned with the help of a KnockTek sensor and 98ron fuel. In wide open throttle areas the timing is retarded 1-2 degrees when the detector lamp start flashing. Areas like coasting or cruising is still much of a guesswork but seems to function ok. I have had a look at the bluetooth adapters but is a bit doubtful, mostly because I'm not exactly a wizard with the smartphones. Think I'm better off with cable and a laptop, less risk of messing things up. /cheers edit: The AFR and spark tables are very much up for discussion, comments, opinions. Anyone is welcome!

Hi All,
My name is Daniel and I am Jan's son. In case you have been wondering about the inactivity on this thread, I am sad to say that Jan passed away in May last year after short illness.
Last time I looked in the thread, I saw that all of the images where gone. Apparently "Photobucket", the website he uploaded the images through, suddenly charged every user alot of money to access the images. A real bummer. I then took the role of a detective to find the right images and fill in the blanks. Having done that, I now saw that the images are back!
Anyways, even if my father is not still with us, the Jaguar is! And it is a true pleasure to drive. Since I live quite far from the car at the moment, the project is more about keeping it in good condition. But that doesn't say I won't take it up in the years to come. I have a couple of ideas in mind.
Furthermore, I would like to thank all of you for your interest. Jan was truly happy for all of the response, and he wrote in the forum for as long as it was possible.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and I will try to answer as best as I can, even if I am not as knowledgeable as Jan was.
Stay tuned,
/DanielM

RIP Jan
I was thinking about this car when I saw an xj6 just today.
I’m in the same boat, my father passed away and I still have his car, nothing special but it’s nice to keep the memories.

RIP Jan and sorry for your loss Daniel. This project was a big inspiration (half of the reason I got a S1 XJ6 myself) and I've always enjoyed Jan's craftsmanship and willingness to help. Good to know his legacy will be in good hands!

Daniel, Just logged on for a "fix" and very saddened to hear your news- my deepest condolences to you and your family.
I think that if Jan left his passion for his Jag to you then that's a wonderful thing, you can go into the garage, drag the covers off and remember happy times; he'll look down from above, wherever his spirit is and smile with you.
Our Best Wishes
Mike
