Couple of random updates... LED headlight conversion from Classic Car LEDs Halfway through: All done: Significant improvement, shining some light on the daily Tidied the garage up a bit and added some fancy flooring And finally, a bit of engine bay bling for no reason at all other than I got it cheap. Heading home on leave soon and have a few upgrades planned for the next few weeks: - Frontline panhard rod
- Frontline lower front valance
- Wilwood front vented brake kit
- Removal of rear anti-roll bar
Updates to follow!

Pff how much i like the look of this car! just wondering, are these the LED's with the cooling unit on the back? Was looking on the fleabay and saw different kinds of them, wasn't really sure which one could be a nice one to try. Just out of curiosity, why are you going to remove the rear roll bar?

These are the LEDs from Classic Car LEDs. Can't recommend the company enough, very helpful, etc. They do have a cooling unit on the back. Removal of the rear AR bar is recommended when lowering from RB to CB ride height, which has been done to this car. If left on after lowering, it can cause snap oversteer.

I was thinking about also installing a set for fun but I read that it could be blinding other road users and that the "spread" of the light is less. I'm curious for your experience in that sense:D

Afternoon all, update time. I work abroad and had planned on a few upgrades during this leave period but unfortunately had to write a couple of them off due to funds being re-routed elsewhere. Some absolute ************ of the highest order decided to take a key to about 10 of the cars in our street including mine and the fiancee's. The safe money is on a drunken, scorned woman due to the fact that my car had LIAR scratched in to the bonnet and one of the neighbours had CHEAT!!! scratched into the bonnet of his S Class. Due to the extent of the damage, there was no choice but to go through the insurance meaning car parts money was instead used for my insurance excess. For fun, check out the pics below: Unfortunately the line continued all the way down the passenger's side, finishing on the rear wing. Not far off a full respray to repair! But anyway, on to the MG. We headed down to Bicester Heritage for the Sunday Scramble towards the end of April. Awesome day out with some insanely beautiful cars there. If you've not been to one before, make the effort and book tickets for the next one. All was going well on the journey until about 5 mins out when we hit heavy traffic and this happened... It's a magic car, it makes coolant disappear! Strangely, there was no moment of combustion resulting in a cloud of steam, it seems the coolant had disappeared slowly over the course of the drive down. Turns out the culprit was another failed heater return valve. All fixed now and replaced the thermostat, thermostat housing, temperature sensor, sender and water pump for good measure. Walked down to a local garage, topped up with coolant and finally managed to get in to the Scramble about 90 minutes after planned! Despite the crappy situation, the number of people who stopped to check on us and offer help was testament to the culture of camaraderie surrounding our old cars. Didn't bother taking many pictures at the Scramble as there were many, many photographers there with much greater talent than I! Moving on, I have managed to do a couple of bits this leave including a Wilwood brake upgrade and the addition of some Frontline LE50 style boot floor runners. Pics below: And that's pretty much it. Just a couple of other random pics to finish the update off:

Those runners look fantastic - exactly what I want to do with mine when the time comes. Where did you source them from?

Morning all. I'm looking for someone to carry out an MX-5 engine and gearbox conversion on the BGT.
Can anyone recommend anyone decent in the East / West Mids area who can undertake the work? Based in Nottingham here. Thanks in advance.

Evening all. Didn't realise that it has been so long since this thread has received an update. Well, the car has been away for a while at DFTR Automotive undergoing an engine and gearbox conversion. It is currently midway through the process of having a MX5 NB 1.8 VVTI lump and six-speed box transplanted. The old b-series and four-speed OD box are long gone! Engine out New engine in... Still several things that need tackling including sourcing a smaller alternator, wiring, electrics, ECU and and getting the fuelling set up. Fuelling will be addressed by a new in-tank pump, an Aeromotive Phantom 200. In the meantime, whilst DFTR crack on with the engine swop, I've had a go at some DIY painting. I've started on the new Frontline Engineering valance and will be tackling the MGC bonnet next. Before anyone slags the painting off, this pic was taken whilst the gloss was still drying and before any sanding, buffing or polishing. Fairly happy with how it has come out so far. So that's it for now. I'm hoping to get the conversion finished before the summer so I can get it out and actually enjoy it.

Are conversion kits available for the mx5 engine now or is it all bespoke?
Also very curious about the Aeromotive fuel pump retrofit kit. Would love it if you could take lots of pictures when you fit it 👍

Adam and Dean at DFTR are taking pictures at every stage so I'll make sure to post some up here once they've fit the fuel pump and plumbed it all in.
