I took 2 X200s to over 100k miles each. Both 3 litre manuals. Overall average around 28mpg. Motorways 'within ACPO' guidelines 30+mpg consistently. Local trips to town 19-25 depending on how I could the 2 sets of traffic lights. Once managed Maidenhead to Milford Haven at 40mpg. Rain & Fog to pottered along at c. 50mph for the first half of the journey, then after the bridge set myself the target of keeping above 40mpg. Never repeated that feat, but mid 30s very common on long steady runs.
Current X358 SV8 averaging 24.5mpg. Once got 30mpg on a long steady motorway run, but never repeated, 28mpg common.
To answer the unspoken question, no I have never been overtaken on a non-motorway and I do make full use of the blower to overtake - especially uphill on the assumption that any undeclared speed traps are at the bottom of the hill.
All data from the on-board computer.

As this is a Jaguar forum I thought I'd drop this in to see if anyone else had picked it up: Somehow I missed this: www.kwecars.com/fully-electric-jaguar-e-type-zero-truly-modern-classic/Given all the pressure piling on us petrol heads re our cars and the apparent expressed will of those who'd like to pressurise us off the road, (unless we buy one of their modern electric "shoes with wheels") there just might be hope that somewhere along the future way we can get our hands on this kind of powertrain to fit into our classics once we can't get at the hydrocarbons. Now if they could just add in the right soundtrack synced to the throttle....... BTW the 220KW motor equates to a gnat's whisker short of 300HP.

As previously mentioned, when I removed the nearside sill cover, there wasn't a lot behind it. (If you're sqeamish, look away now.) 20180214_082726 by keith hilton, on Flickr Surprisingly, it failed the MoT on this (and a couple of split boots). A lot of tooing and froing followed with my MoT man and tame welder trying to source some sill panels. Eventually he did and began work. Then came the "Can you come and have a look at your car?" phone call. Once the remains of the outer sill was cut off, it became apparent that the problems were much deeper than first thought. The inner strengthener had dissolved completely from front to back. The inner sill was also soft, and the outer edge of he floor, which looked solid, turned out to be paper thin when it lost the support of the remains of the outer sill. Suffice to say that the original very reasonable quote had gone completely out of the window. The amount of work needed was such that it turned from "It'll be this much" to "It takes as long as it takes". On a car with 165,000 miles on it, I decided I didn't want to spend a good few hundred on the sills then have the gearbox go in a fortnight. The aforementioned MoT man and welder is very much a Jag man and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Several Saturday afternoons later he's got it back on the road. I, on the other hand, have bought this: 20180320_170421 by keith hilton, on Flickr It's not retro, and for this I apologise, but it is much better suited to my needs as it has more space and room for the dog.

I checked the MOT history on my old one recently. It looks to have had excessive welding on it a few months ago to get a ticket. Surprising as it was similar miles to yours, had clear accident damage and wasn’t in great nick externally. Could prob have been replaced with an identical car for less!
