Great update but I can't help but wonder if your head / valve supplier might have been a bit more informative? Hello! Very good point, and something I probably should've explained earlier. They were built by the late Great Kenny Augustine - well worth a google if you're on work time. I tracked them down to a box in a workshop in San Jose, Northern California. They had been built up by Kenny with one off parts from Del West and everything else produced by himself at his shop. They were used for two races then the team changed bikes for the newest model, they were then tucked away for a decade and mostly forgotton about until I started kicking around. The market for a set of race heads for a ten year old oil cooled boxer engine is very very limited (i.e. me) so I did get them at a steal (it's all relative) compared to what they cost to have built. In fact AFTER i bought them the team owner told me he had over $10k in them in parts, and more substantially, development. I should've thought about it a bit more and put two and two together that they would've been using something like Wossner pistons with a higher compression and larger recesses to be used with the cams that the heads had fitted, and that it could be possible that the valve stems could be a tad longer than stock - but I completely overlooked that once I changed the cams to the stock ones. My fault. I will use these heads and valves at some point down the line but my current thoughts are that I don't want to increase compression with piston mods (due to the supercharger), and also want to use the stock cams rather than some wild high lift (again due to the supercharger)... so I am thinking that I can get the valve stems machined down by a specialist to stock lengths. With the current gearbox about to poo its pants, I don't need (sorry scrub that) I do need, but can't have any more power right now. I can't justify spending any more substantial amounts of cash on Green Car this year so I will probably race like this this season and next then winter 2019 look to upgrade to a 6 speed Seqential SADEV box with a 2cv type bellhousing, clutch and flywheel. After that is fitted I will fit the heads hopefully and then get it back to Emerald so we can adjust my map for these heads and also setup the Geartronics ECU for the SADEV, which will work in conjuction with the Emerald. Which incidently can do flat shifting on sequential boxes but I believe it's only a timer - so there is scope for me to kaboom things if I fluff something - hence the Geartronics. That'll also make life easier for rolling roading and not having to drive back and forth across the country.

Thank you for the explanation - it makes much more sense now!
I hope you get this monster sufficiently sorted to use in anger this summer.

Thank you for the explanation - it makes much more sense now! I hope you get this monster sufficiently sorted to use in anger this summer. No problem, there is so much back story behind most individual parts on this it's hard not to delve into that for each one but it would mean epically long updates. Well.. I have a few self imposed deadline coming up imminently... I land back from Mexico on Thursday, Green Car should be delivered back to me on Friday, I'm working one of my small boats over the weekend in Devon then got Sunday afternoon to cut and re-weld the light bar, grease everything up, adjust the cable operated handbrake and maybe bleed the whole braking system and any other little bits before an 8am MOT in Plymouth, so my first proper drive will be in rush hour traffic through the city coming off of the Moors... Presuming it gains an MOT I am entertaining for most of the week so only have over nights and the rest of Monday to reinforce the steering arms (have some 19mm OD, 2mm wall thickness CDS tubing that I am going to sleeve the current arms in), I have to machine top plates add a rose joint and then make a brace for this from the top of the front hub onto the swing arm for both front hubs as I'm pretty sure those extra wide and extra sticky tyres and going to tear the hubs off of the swing arms, check harnesses and all other safety systems and then pack for racing as I am booked and paid to compete at Gurston Down (Broad Chalke outside Salisbury) on the 16th/17th June. Presuming that all goes well then I have a few evenings the next week to refine things before being at Tregrehan (St Austell) for another 2 rounds of the ASWMC championship. I've no chance to get any road miles in next week but hopefully the week after Gurston and from the time on the hill at Gurston I'll get a better feel to the new characteristics - bearing in mind I've changed suspension setup, power and tyres.

Neat Cant recommend Emerald enough myself Great guys Categorically awesome thus far. Fingers crossed I get the shout today to say it is ready for collection.. the transporter is booked for Wednesday and I'll see it bright and early Friday morning back at the Super Secret Shore Base. Hopefully I'll have anti jet lag and be able to crack on working super early then, so much to do to get him ready for Gurston, and so little time!

SIT REP!
Literally just had an email from Karl at Emerald:
'Fixing the tappet clearnace has restored the power. In fact it is now up to 154bhp.
We're now up against the limit of the bigger injectors (remember we already replaced these from 350cc to 550cc) because it is making more power than expected (approx 175-180bhp facotring in the supercharger loss).
We could increase fuel pressure slightly or fit even bigger injectors. Which way do you want to go?'
Now... I'm pretty sure I mentioned we should probably draw the line at 150bhp due to the box' (infact I think I might've decided 140bhp before it smashed that limit)...
... but we need to know what it can make right?
.... bigger injectors then?
Also bear in mind they close in a few hours and it HAS to be on a trailer to me tomorrow!

Approaching 200 BHP/litre - Air cooled - getting into 917 territory. Dammit DARKSPEED. I was waiting for you or someone else sensible to tell me that 140-150bhp was the limit for the Citroen box and yes we should back down from the tuning now.

No brainier. Citroen 2cv gearboxes are inherently evil and deserve to be punished. Bigger injectors AND up the fuel pressure gets my vote.....š

Well I was going to say if the bigger injectors are straw coloured - it's a sign - Anyway, pushing your luck is one of the key times that life gets truly interesting - who am I to suggest that you back away from that
