This car is powered by the legendary ‘AJ8’ 3.2 litre V8 engine:
• 3248 cc
• 240 bhp
• 233 lb•ft (316 N•m) Torque
• 25+ mpg
This power plant is a work of art: it is perfectly docile when just cruising along at 70mph on the motorway in near silence, but will growl like a very angry big cat when provoked!
The engine seems to be spot on: always starts first turn of the key. No knocks, bangs, or any untoward sounds. No oil, water or any other fluid leaks. Uses no excess oil or water. Never overheats: gets to the correct temperature and sits there all day long. Throttle body would benefit from a good clean, as intermittently the car might hiccup under full load or stall engine. (common issue on these XJ8 models, and is only very intermittent).
The automatic gearbox is perfect, and the gear changes are smooth, effortless and go unnoticed, as they should be in an XJ8. Sports mode engages fine, and truly changes the car’s cruising personality – it becomes an animal! For such a big, long and heavy car, it feels planted on the road.
The exterior of this XJ is finished in Jaguar’s lovely Sapphire Blue. This is a rare and sought after colour in an XJ8.
It makes the car look modern, classy and executive. The X308 shape oozes opulence, and looks at home parked up in the most exclusive areas of London! The XJ has one of the most iconic shapes in automotive design, something that remained similar in design between 1968 and 2010.
From a distance, it appears to be in pretty good condition for the age: However, she does have the usual age-related marks and blemishes. There are a few stone chips at the front. Both OSF and OSR arches have corrosion. Rear bumper has marks on both corners. Lacquer peel on a few patches. There is a small chip/crack on the windscreen.
Don’t expect a brand new XJ – if you want one of those, go to your local Jaguar dealer and pay upwards of £60k for one! Still looks like a very presentable £6k+ plus car, for very little money.
Finished off nicely with a set of genuine Jaguar 18” BBS Milan alloy wheels. These would require from a refurb to make perfect, but are solid and straight as they are. When finished, these are worth over £500 on their own!
The blue coachwork is perfectly complemented by the Oatmeal leather interior. This has the usual wear on the driver’s seat bolster and would generally require a deep clean. Apart from that, they are in decent condition, with no major rips, tears or marks.
The cabin of an XJR is a nice place to be and pilot a car of this calibre. The surround on the gear selector is all leather-stitched, and there is a lavishing of chrome and walnut burr finish.
Unlike a lot of other XJs of this vintage, everything works as it should: windows, wipers, horn, climate control, heating, trip computer, stereo, electric seats, etc. all operate correctly. The heating system is excellent and the car warms up nicely within a few minutes. All the dashboard instruments / dials work fine, and there are no warning lights currently present.
There is nothing quite like the feeling you get when driving an Jaguar XJ – the windscreen has a widescreen effect, and the whole cabin just wraps around you. It is a super-smooth, refined and comfortable ride.
Comes with: 1 Key, Current MOT Certificate, Green Slip of V5 Logbook (still awaiting full logbook, but full receipt given).
